How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewPool was green and slimy when we got there. Empty for the next 4 days. Room had a damp smell, dirt on the walls and ants everywhere. The drain on the bathroom sink drained straight on to your feet when you used it. Only stayed one night and hotel would not refund the payment. The beach on the photos only exists on a very low tide. The rest of the time it is just a rock wall.
Dear Duncan, Thank you for your review after your resent stay with us. Upon your arrival, the pool tiles were under maintenance for 07 days, which have been informed to you accordingly, so that you could choose to continue with us or relocate. You decided to stay and settled payment with us for 05 nights; however you have reported to Booking.com that you rested only 01 night and requested refund. We have sent them proofs including billings, messages, and photos of you having meal in our restaurant to show the untrue report from you. Verified reviewSimple but nice bungalow facing the beach, beach itself ok. Basically a nice place. Cleaning extra ordinary good! Beds and pillows relatively comfortable. AC working fine.
The owner runs his business effectively, but is very stressed, which often shows in a direct rudeness, so stay here were in the total, not pleasant, and I therefore cannot recommend anyone else to stay here. They really would be in the need of a friendly face, fronting their business! Some mory comfy chairs outside to wish for. Lots of mosquitos. One night I became really seriously sick (lost consience, etc), from food poisoning of food supplied by hotel but delivered from outside. Took some days to recover from. For this I was handed 3 tea bags in "compansation", but not any excuse whatsoever... A security matter is that the small security box is not attached to anything at all. Anyone could just carry it out of the bungalow. Perhaps more important is that no action were taken to fix this. Owner knows best! :-)

Verified reviewBeautiful facilities and comfortable room in a very quiet, peaceful setting. The owner and other staff were extremely nice and helpful. Being able to walk right into the ocean a few steps from my door was great
It is quite remote - not much in terms of restaurants close by.

Verified reviewA really authentic area of the island. I loved this property, it’s so green and all the staff are lovely (including the cute dogs)! It made me energized and happy to be here. The resort shouldn’t really be called Beachfront as there is no real beach. There is a stone wall built between the land and the sea. You can definitely access the sea through the stairs, and it’s amazing for snorkeling and swimming (I saw 10+ seastars right by the entrance!). It’s a great spot to enjoy the sea but not to spend a day on the ”beach”. But due to the construction the beach/sand part is not very nice to stay on and it’s not a natural beach anymore, the sand is not fluffy etc. It would almost be better of they made a grass garden for tanning here instead. You can borrow snorkles for free but bring your own if you want to be guaranteed a non leaking one. There are multiple amazing food places and delicious street food close to the hotel, I borrowed a bicycle for free and that was my favorite part. I could cycle around and eat around locals, seeing very few or none other tourists stop in this area. The breakfast at the hotel lacks what’s amazing about Vietnamese food; an abundance of herbs and condiments, hence I cannot recommend it.

Verified reviewWe had an excellent time and Toai was an amazing host. Nothing was too much trouble. This place is perfect if you like to experience the real Vietnam. Positioned on the less touristy part of the island, the local town was authentic, good to explore with great local food. Nice to retreat back to Hula Hula with large rooms with comfy bed and plenty of hot water. While there are some beautiful beaches elsewhere we had a room with a seaview which was worth it to have breakfast and watch the world go by. With complimentary kayaks, snorkel and bikes to get you in and out of town. Really recommend for those that like modest accommodation in a resort with 2 pools and lovely gardens. Would go back again. :)
If you like snorkelling there are tropical fish, starfish and crabs to spot -appreciate this is however a fishing village town.

Verified reviewHuha Hula is located in unspoilt northern part of island which is good for nature lovers and simple of local life. Nice view from the room. The restaurant at Kim 2 beach front was a lifesaver as there are no other restaurants within walking distance. Good size of swimming pool and greenery surrounding it.
Breakfast was the worst thing about this place. Guests need to preorder breakfast the night before with very specific choice of meal, drink and time. However the pictures and choice were much better than in reality. The breakfast was made day before and warmed in microwave. Tasteless and poor quality. The shower did not have hot water and pressure was very low. Room had cobwebs and dust. The owner didn't appear to be interested or have a sufficient social skills to interact with guests. He was more interested in his phone.
Dear Jurgita, Thank you for your comment, and sorry for not meeting your expectations. Kindly be reconfirmed that our breakfast is made fresh daily according to guests’ orders, not a day before. However breakfast vouchers are collected every evening for better preparation, which was well informed to you upon checkin. Regarding the shower, we have fixed the issues according to your request. Moreover, we were willing to help shortening your stay with no charges, or recommend you to another hotel that better suits your liking, sorry if this was not well explained to you. Thank you again and we hope to have another opportunity to welcome you back in your next visit to the island, Best regards, For and on behalf Hula Hula Phu Quoc

Verified reviewLovely place to come and stay in Phu Quoc. If you are looking for a relaxed beachside destination then Hula Hula is perfect. The site itself is very well maintained, with the rooms themselves very spacious and modern. The area itself is a traditional Vietnamese town which is a lovely experience, however slightly limited on places to go and explore without a mode of transports. The staff here are wonderful, they were always eager to help and responded immediately with any queries we had. Would recommend to anyone visiting Vietnam!

Verified reviewWhat a gem of a find . The hotel is so charming with a fabulous beach . The swimming pool right outside our door was a dream. The beds were the comfiest we had experienced during our 4 weeks travelling around the island . Total bliss with pillows like clouds and a mattress topper to sink into . We will be back 😀
The wifi was a bit temperamental at times but everything else compensated for that .

No hot water until it was figured out but even then there wasn't a regular temperature - either cold or boiling hot. The next part is the reason why we checked out a day earlier: we decided to go have breakfast elsewhere for one of the days to have something different and I don't think the manager/owner liked it because his attitude shifted dramatically. It's not difficult to cook eggs but they were pretty overdone the first couple of days, hence we wanted to try something a bit fresher. He was cordial and professional to begin with, but as the days went on it became apparent he really enjoyed talking about himself and his achievements, which is fine - but it can become a little bit too much after a while. The first instance was when serving breakfast the following day: I received my plate of eggs and avocado, then a table of 5 were attended to- all the while waiting for my partner's breakfast. I was hungry and started without him thinking his would be on the way. By the time I had finished, my partner was eventually served a cold mess - with a rather wry smile from the manager. It was like it was deliberately left in the kitchen to go cold. We gave it to the street dogs - and it's a poor area so there are loads of them only too happy to eat whatever is given to them. The next instance was later that day when we were tanning around the pool. The manager decided to clean the pool (which meant no swimming) and then said to my (Irish) partner "you know, no matter how much you tan, you'll NEVER have skin like mine!" My partner retorted sarcastically "nor would I ever want to" and laughed it off. What a bizarre thing to say! As someone who lived in South Africa, this comment wouldn't go down well with anyone and we were both stunned. If the manager is reading this he'd be ignorant to not understand his racist comment and also how the Irish have treated everyone equally for centuries.
