How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewThe location was good and they arranged transfers for us.
There was a lot of mold on the walls, but also the entire room and the bed linens felt damp/moldy.
Hello! We are not quite sure if you actually stayed at our hotel or not. Have you had the chance to learn more about Sapa before your trip? At the moment, Sapa has been experiencing a lot of rain, and the overall climate here is very humid. It may not be accurate to consider this humidity as the hotel’s fault. Please rest assured that our hotel has been and will continue to do our best to minimize the effects of the weather conditions. In any case, we truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us provide better advice to future guests about whether Sapa is the right destination during the rainy season.

Verified reviewOnly stayed here to freshen up and spend the night before my trek the next morning. The room served my purpose well, the bed and shower were comfortable and well maintained. Tam, the receptionist was very helpful and friendly, she reached out ahead of my arrival to ensure that everything was alright as well. Great views and plenty of nice places within walking distance as well.

Verified reviewStayed for 3 nights with my family of 4. We had both city and mountain views—absolutely gorgeous! The room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and bottled water provided every day. The property is close to the city center but tucked away from the busy main road, which I really appreciated—quiet and peaceful. The view from the balcony was impressive. I got a great deal through Booking.com. Staff were friendly, and Google Translate came in very handy. Overall, I loved this place and highly recommend it!

Verified reviewIt was in a good location and walkable to all restaurants in the town.
The rooms are damp with mould on the ceilings. The duvet and pillows were stained and damp. There was an unpleasant odour every time we would come to the room.

Would be nice to have the possibility to have breakfast in the hotel, without having to go out.

Verified reviewA great hotel for such good value!! The room was very spacious, and clean. Beds were made everyday and fresh towels for the bathroom everyday. The location is much quieter being a side street from the main streets yet only a couple minutes to walk to the heart of Sapa. Easy to get anywhere walking on foot from this hotel. We did all restaurants, shopping and hiking on foot from the hotel. Shower was warm or cold as need with good flow and toiletries available. The day and night receptionists both very friendly and ready to help with any questions. The day receptionist recommended some great things for us to see and do in the area.
The shower does not drain well so the bathroom can flood, this has caused some mould. The shower drain would do better if it was cleared during cleaning, and the whole bathroom a clean with vinegar to help the mould. It wasn't a lot, so we didn't mind.

Verified reviewThe view from the 8th floor was amazing. It overlooked the town center and the mountains
The bathroom was extremely small and cramped. The pipe for the hot water burned my leg. The wood slats for the shower were broken, and the shower door handle was broken. The beds were also pretty stiff.
Hello! We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. You should, and absolutely can, notify the front desk immediately if you encounter any issues with the bathroom so we can assist you promptly. The hotel was able to arrange a room change for you. Upon inspection, we found no major problems with the bathroom; we have also checked and fixed the door handle. The bathroom size is generally spacious enough for most guests—the bathroom in your room is approximately 6 square meters or more. Best regards!
