Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe bathroom smelt bad occasionally and the shower was on off hot and cold. The biggest disappointment is the lack of cars available for rental- they seem to be sold out consistently
Staff make the place how it is, give it its personality. We stayed over new year and they put on a spread that was so tasty! Live music on the weekend aswell

AustraliaBeing in the centre of town means that you have to go a distance or do tours to find a pretty place. Town itself is hot and stinky, but this hotel is the oasis!
The hotel was centrally located in town so was good for getting your bearings and changing money, hireing a car etc before setting off elsewhere. An oasis in the mayhem. It also had nice pool and good menu. Comforable rooms and general area with a good bar!

New ZealandThere was some confusion about airport shuttles - no response to a request for one, then when booked for departure, it was not clear the fee was charged by the hotel so ended up paying twice. Staff also charged room for meal after I specifically asked them not to. Clearer communication needed about charges.
Room was spacious and clean. Restaurant was nice. Breakfast was basic but ok. Staff at front desk were very helpful when booking tours

AustraliaBreakfast was a bit limited.
We travelled for scuba diving so this hotel was great because the dive shop was based at the hotel. We were picked up promptly every day and taken to the dive site. The hotel is close to everything in town. Very close to the free ferry going over to the neighboring island where you can snorkel and enjoy a break from town. The breakfast was very basic with fruit, toast and cereal only. A buffet would have been preferable but you can pay extra and get a bigger hot breakfast. The lunches and dinners at the onsite restaurant were very good and the service was excellent compared with other restaurants on the island. We had a large room which was cleaned well every day. The hotel had a very social feel about it. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone.

AustraliaThe bathroom, although spotlessly clean, was a little bit of a squeeze, trying to get round the door in the small area almost took an acrobatic feat..
It was so nice to come down to breakfast each morning and be personally greeted by Gaetan and his friendly staff. A perfect start to the day. The tropical fruit and pastries and freshly brewed coffee were so nice.

AustraliaIt said Netflix but that was not available and only 4 TV channels. Wifi is unreliable. The water is not safe to drink (we were not told this) and it was often turned off. Not enough variety of food on the menu. Breakfast is average. Lots of stairs if you are bringing your dive gear. This is our 5th time to Santo but the 1st time staying at The Espirito. It is overpriced for what you get.
The property is located in town and near Pacific Dive which is who we were scuba diving with so this was convenient. The food was ok; not much variety. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

AustraliaAircon probably needs replacing
Centrally located and easy to get to from the airport, this is a good starting point for a holiday before travelling further or in my case, for business. Nice enough room and a great little bar to have a refreshment and the food was great.

AustraliaMy only gripe is (by virtue of the humidity and airflow the rooms do have a smell of aircon when you first enter- that goes away quickly enough, or you get used to it. Capacity to dry anything is tricky. As the rooms power is key controlled, you can’t charge anything whilst you are gone and can be fined for trying - According to signage you will need to balance any charging you need to do.
The Espiritu is the most central hotel in Santo, it has a fairly well rounded and diverse western menu with enough options you won’t get bored. At the time of writing, A pizza is about 1800, pad Thai 1500. Frozen lime juice or a coconut 200. Drinks are cold. Juices, beers and cocktails. A basic breakfast is included in the room rate. Cereals, toast, spreads and fruit. Usually with banana bread. For and extra 600-1200 VuV you can add a cooked breakfast, omelettes, bacon and eggs etc. The rooms are tiled, big comfy bed, multiple power points and expansive bathroom. The beds are remade every day and this was ample space for 2 people and a heap of dive gear. I wouldn’t suggest it was a beautiful room, but it was super comfortable. I was tentative on the espiritu before booking, and that’s because it is set up as a transient hotel. What this place is , is an excellent base of operations in a town that has lots of things to access, but staying here will make everything so much easier. You have everything at your fingertips- supermarkets are few doors away, multiple atms, the market is a short stroll away. It’s number 1 selling point it’s staff and its reception has excellent advice and information coupled with a dive desk for Pacific dive which is attentive and helpful. Want to be picked up from a dive site and travel from there- no problems, need to leave early but have something sorted not a worry. The friendly staff in the restaurant are also a huge boon for the Espiritu. Well worth the entry. Oh and the pool is deep, cool and right beside the bar.

Australia-this hotel is in the city and is a bit of a drive to the lagoons and the beach (this is not a fault of the accommodation, but just important to note before you book).
-property is in the heart of the city (Luganville) so easy access to shops, restauranta, car hire, airport -the property manager/owner Tara was very lovely - she is probably the highlight of this place. She is very accommodating, kinds, hands-on and very helpful -the restaurant foods served good food, a good variety with quality ingredients, and super wait staff -adequate pool for kids -they allowed us to check out late because our flight was late in the afternoon
