Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Everything was wonderful
Welda was so kind to us and made us feel so welcome. She cooked us breakfast which was just like home. Room was very comfortable. Will definitely stay there again

The only thing we could give constructive criticism on, which is only small, we would have liked a little more milk in the room so we could make more than a cup of coffee each.
Really appreciated the room having a fan & aircon. It is in a nice area with restaurants within walking distance. The room had its own little outdoor sitting area, which was lovely.

Everything was fantastic, but there wasn't a lot of variety with the breakfast.
This lovely Sea Point guest house is really special. Welda and Phillip are incredible hosts - friendly and helpful in numerous ways. My room was lovely and opened onto an almost private courtyard. The whole facility was conveniently located and impeccably clean. The hosts kindly stored some of my things while I took off on a group tour and also helped me get some laundry done as I'd been traveling for weeks. And to top it all off, Cape Nelson is really affordable! I can't say enough about this place; I'd come back in a heartbeat.

Amazing stay. Property itself is in a great location with good amenities in the room, which was very spacious. The bed was so comfy! Hot water, no effects of load shedding which made our stay a lot easier. The food was lovely in the mornings, fresh breakfasts every day. The best thing about the whole trip was really the host didi. He was an exceptional host and really looked after us! He was also great with our baby and we enjoyed lots of lovely chats with him. We have already started recommending cape Nelson guesthouse to friends and family and will be back soon!!

Parking is limited and not secure, but I understand the neighborhood is safe and we had no problems after our overnight stay.
Solar power so no loadshedding to worry about, the room was clean and comfortable, friendly owners.

It’s close position to the ocean and in the close proximity of the water city front makes the guesthouse an ideal place to spend some quite and enjoyable time. Breakfast was freshly prepared by the owner and the entire family made us feeling at home. Clean and comfortable room.

Vlada's place is a treasure! Her cozy, clean, and spacious apartment was a wonderful stay, but what truly sets it apart is Vlada herself. When we received distressing news before our arrival, Vlada's warm-heartedness shone through. She not only provided a great apartment but also walked with me to the supermarket and offered invaluable support. I highly recommend Vlada's place not just for the accommodations but for the incredible kindness and care she extends to her guests. She made our stay exceptional with her huge heart
