Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

South AfricaThe only two improvements I could offer would be electric blankets to heat up the beds in winter, or hot water bottles/thick blankets. A map of the area would be wonderful for running/cycling and the real game changer would be a few well-marked single tracks across the enormous property - that would make it a destination worth driving to for the weekend from Cape Town.
The house and surrounding garden and lawn space is beautiful! We were lucky to be able to watch the horses being groomed in the morning, and could help ourselves from a vegetable garden. The house is nicely furnished and spacious, with a great fireplace and even under floor heating!

South AfricaThe flies were a bit of a nuisance in the kitchen but that's understandable given that you're on a farm, maybe a fly swatter would be helpful in the cottage.
Very relaxing four days in the countryside. We enjoyed long walks around the farm, meeting the farm animals and picking vegetables for dinner from their lovely veggie patch. The kitchen is well equipped and cottage is very comfortable. Heidi was kind enough to arrange a cot and feeding chair for our young son. We were also welcomed with a fruit bowl, milk in the fridge, chocolates by the bedside and a complimentary bottle of champagne, great hospitality.

South AfricaIt was a cold weekend. I would bring along an electric blanket.
The property had everything thing I needed. They also sent staff daily to clean. Wish we stayed longer. The surroundings were tranquil. We should have taken advantage of the extras like collecting eggs with the workers on the farm.

South AfricaThe water supply to the bathrooms was uneven, some got hot showers, some didnt. The water pressure upstairs was not good., We suggest a better place for the braai so that in bad weather, it is under cover.
The house is beautiful and as one of our overseas friends said "rather like Scottish castle on the moors" It is well supplied and very spacious and comfortable. And it is only a short distance to villages, a good pub and amenities and more important,, excellent wine farms.

South AfricaAll was great. Maybe one small suggestion to put a colander or sieve into the otherwise excellently-stocked kitchen :)
The roominess of the cottage, the well-appointed rooms, the various extra luxuries like good coffee and lovely toiletries. We were very comfortable there!

South AfricaThe wifi was non existent along with the water pressure in the kitchen and showers. The owner did assist with allowing us to log onto the neighbouring cottages' wifi, but the water pressure never came.
The location is fantastic and the ambience is peaceful. The cottage we stayed in was well equipped and had everything we could require. Overall this is a great place for a nice tranquil getaway. The fact that pets are also allowed is also a bonus.

South AfricaUnderfloor heating didn’t work in the main living area due to loadshedding blowing the fuse, but that’s just first world problems.
Beautiful Dutch style. Warm and cosy with a big fire place in the main living area. The under floor heating in the rooms was a game changer for these cold winter months. It had a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and there was plenty of room in the spacious deck and garden for our toddler to run around in.

South AfricaNothing. Loved it all.
Not your average "farm stay". Absolute self-catering luxury with all the modern conveniences including solar power to erase all your load-shedding woes. This booking was made to meet with and entertain our American guests on a business trip. They loved everything about their stay and the complimentary upgrade was also sincerely appreciated. Thank you, Heidie and Bertie, for going out of your way to ensure every little detail was taken care of.

South AfricaWhat an absolute gem of a place. The views are amazing, the accomodation is beautiful, quiet and well equipped. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. We had a blast exploring the very large property with our dog and watching some of the wildlife and birds. Highly recommend testing the wines from Elim valley, and exploring the nearby towns like Napier and Gaansbaai.
