How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewCan’t beat the setting! Had a fabulous stay on the boat. The boat we stayed on isn’t fancy, but the scenery more than makes up for it! Would recommend at least 2 nights stay so you can fully enjoy the surroundings. Definitely recommend

Verified reviewUpon arrival there was no sign board to confirm we were in the right place, nobody to welcome us, we had to fumble about and eventually call the number on the booking to tell them we were there. From the car park to the jetty was a construction zone with dangerous embankment to navigate down with our luggage. Once onboard we were comfortable and enjoyed our time. Small things could have been better like having hand soap in bathroom, shower soap, tissues. The cooking items were far from cleaned properly but it seemed to work out. This is a house boat after all and brings with it complexities which to be fair are managed very well. The bedroom with the floor mattresses is really not practical, you literally have to stand on the bed to do anything in the room which is not the end of the world but some folks prefer to keep beds clean where feet and shoes stay on the floor. They’d be better off making it a single bed or a bunk bed like the other room. If you’re claustrophobia the bunk bed room is not for you. Overall as a house boat experience we had a great time, ocean and water activities were perfect and we’re excited about coming again!

Verified reviewThe boat needs maintenance, the table was broken, the mattress in the main bedroom was comfortable, but the mattresses in the other two bedrooms were terrible. The was no warm water in the bathroom basin. The rest of the boat however is very nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

It was not clean. The previous bedding was still on the duvets and no sheets. The floor was thick and sticky with dirt. The braai looked like it had never been cleaned. It Was meant to sleep 8 people but there were 2 pullout couches in the lounge that were so old and broken that you couldn’t even open them properly. Housekeeping needs some serious attention.
Hi Joanna, This unfortunately just cannot be true, i was personally on the vessel, and she was clean, all linen was changed after it was cleaned by our contractor (a professional cleaning company) The description does state that she has two bedrooms but can sleep a max of 8 guests if you make use of the two sleeper couches in the lounge, then yes, the sleeper couches are a bit tricky to open, but if you had any difficulty, I'm sure that you would have asked our staff that are there 24/7 for assistance

Slightly run down. One could for little money upgrade most things/ items that would then take it into an actual luxury stay. On Eve there was a lack of outside seating. Sitting on dinning chairs in the open sun is not ideal…. We just took the sofa outside.

The table inside was broken, there is only one mirror in the bathroom and we were six ladies. A mirror in each room please. The toilet did not want to flush, we had to remove the top to be able to flush.

Verified reviewStunning experience being out in the middle of the lagoon. Beautiful and peaceful. Really a magical experience to wake up to turquoise ocean all around you.
The area where you get the staff to take you to the boats is under construction and filthy. Really not appealing. Boat houses really need TLC. Dirty, limited hot water (one person can shower a day at best). Pillows are horribly cheap and worn down. Linen was old and torn and stained. Sleeper couches are not really sleeper couches. 8 sleepers are more like 4 sleepers if you are all adults. Amenities are not clearly explained. We had no info onhow to book paddle boards etc. Check-in process leaves a lot to be desired. Could really be significantly improved

Nowhere to sit outside. Sleeps 8 but only 2 wooden sun loungers with no mats so incredibly uncomfortable. Only a wooden bench to sit on and not enough to sit 8 people!!!! Ridiculous

We had 6 persons and the one futon couch appeared broken and could not be folded open to a bed. Would prefer more relaxing chairs on the upper deck to relax, appreciate and enjoy the surroundings.

Verified reviewThe location is beautiful and the fact that the boat turns giving great views is amazing. The staff was available 24/7 to take us to the beach and fill the tanks with fresh water.
The Eden(name of the boat) is really much more a boat than a house. Had we known and coming from the UK we would’ve opted for a house for a family. The boat is quite aged and needs to be renovated.

Verified reviewWhat an experience!!!! The check-in, and out process was seamless, excellent staff. Should you need anything, the response is immediate. As for the boat, what a wonderful experience, more than sufficient space with all you will need.
