Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandNothing was wrong, I wouldn't say anything negative and I would definitely stay here again. At a push, you wouldn't really walk to the town in the evening time but it's so easy to get Ubers or the local taxi which the managers can help you with.
We had such a beautiful stay here. It felt genuinely like a home rather than a hotel or guest house. Considering it is not a very big property, it felt very private and personal and had super facilities. The standout was the breakfast and the two lovely ladies who cooked and served breakfast. The staff made it more personal and enjoyable.

The property is stunning to look at and in the most beautiful setting with the best views in Franschhoek but it’s Alan, Yvonne and their team that complete the perfection. The little touches in the rooms, complimentary sundowner wine with the other guests and the fabulous breakfasts just make L’Auberge Chanteclair a must to visit and return to.

GermanyThis is a gem of a small, individual hotel, situated on a spectacular estate with its own vineyard, large swimming pool and pond. You feel immediately welcome if you meet Yvonne and Allan. They and their great staff run the hotel so that you feel like visiting your best friends. Breakfast is nothing short of spectacular on every detail. And sitting on the porch in the afternoon, looking into the vineyard and mountain scenery is an amazing experience. Allan is most helpful if you need advice what to visit and to do.

United KingdomIncredibly welcoming and we genuinely felt like we were staying with friends! Allan and Yvonne really looked after us and the 6.00pm complimentary wine on the verandah was a lovely way to get all guests together - we even met a couple who lived 1 mile from us in the UK! It’s such a sociable and special place and the perfect spot for a few days relaxation with the most wonderful breakfast!

Absolutely stunning property in an extremely picturesque location. The wine on the veranda in the evening watching the sunset was a very nice touch and a good way to meet other guests. Yvonne and Alan were both fantastic - and even made us a small packed breakfast to take away as we were leaving early for a flight from Cape Town.

Everything has been SO perfect and amazing! First, the facilities are so beautiful. Feels like a dream in the middle of the wine lands. The place is so big with stunning views on garden & mountains. The staff is beyond nice and pleasant. On the check out day, had the leave the hotel quite early and they cooked an early warm breakfast to go. Really appreciate. And the breakfast the other days is very good with lots of options. Staff also really helped to get taxi / tuk tuk service. Location is perfect, close to the city center of Franschoek and to many wine tasting areas. Honestly I hope to come back here one day ☀️☀️

GermanyEverything was fine!
L‘Auberge Chanteclair has a calm, but still central location to the Centre of Franschhoek. Nothing disturbs a peaceful time with a glass of wine or at the pool. On top it has the best hosts one can imagine. Their friendliness and helpfulness combined with an unbeatable knowledge of local (and more) information and tips, is the best we have experienced in many travels throughout the world. The breakfast is made with love every single morning!

Luxurious guesthouse situated in a beautiful location in Franschhoek with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. Located in a quiet area but within easy reach of the town centre. The hosts were very friendly and helpful in advising on things to do and see. Breakfast was excellent. We‘d certainly go back there if we were starting in the area again.

My whole experience at L'Auberge Chanteclair was exceptional. From the welcome and warmth of Allan, Yvonne and staff, through to the coziness of the living areas, the wonderful setting, cool, clear swimming pool, most amazing Breakfasts and just general homeliness and stunning location, it definitely over-exceeded my expectations. As a tour guide, I was there for work, but I will definitely return with my wife for a couple of nights just to relax. I highly recommend it and will surely be back. Kass was a wonderful wonderer who also made it feel like home.

Everything!!! We were amazed by the place when we arrived. It has a vineyard, and the garden is so beautiful and big. The hosts Yvonne and Allen are super nice and helpful. We didn't book any restaurants and didn't have a car during our visit during Christmas but Yvonne and Allen helped us sort everything out. We ended up having the best winery tour with Daniel ( he is recommended by the hosts and a very nice guy) and tried a few good restaurants. The room is very clean, comfortable and homy. Last but not least, the breakfast is amazing!!! Everything is fresh and delicious!!! I think they probably get most of it's produce from it's garden. I would definitely go back if I visit Franschhoek.
