Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCan't think what needed improvement, really. All good, and nothing missing.
The location is superb - close to the city centre and to the interesting area of BoKaap. The breakfast was good, with freshly cooked eggs, prepared to order. Yoann, the proprietor was friendly, helpful and entertaining - good to talk with. He saw to it that our cars were parked safely and helped to move them in the yard. His colleague, Albert, was a quiet source of wisdom on a number of subjects, and a delightful man.

BrazilNothing.
The place is very cozy. The room isn't very large, but quite comfortable (we stayed in the room upstairs with a balcony). Spectacular homemade breakfast. Central location, close to the city's main tourist attractions (waterfront, Table Mountain, and Camps Bay - approximately 10 to 15 minutes by car). The main highlight was the hosts, who were very attentive, gave great sightseeing tips, and made us feel at home.

United StatesLots of steps and stairs, but there was unasked-for help with the luggage!
It was a pleasure to meet our host at breakfast. There was a neat dialog with each of the guests, often in different languages. Oh, and the breakfast was amazing with the fresh breads and homemade banana jam. The innkeeper allowed us to drop luggage early and come back late to meet the taxi for the airport

GermanyNothing to dislike
I have never met a more welcoming and interesting proprietor like Joann and his wife. They met each guest daily at the breakfast table and brought out the best in all of us. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. I had originally considered a chain hotel with a pool, but after reading the reviews, which were excellent, I chose La Rose B&B, I am so glad I did.

United KingdomIt's hard to think of anything that could have been better, within the class of accommodation. Neither a complaint nor a serious omission, but perhaps some bacon or mushrooms to go with the eggs at breakfast?
The location is wonderful. I particularly liked the sound of the muezzins, calling people to prayer. The three of them combined to make a very mystical and spiritual sound. Yoann and the staff were exemplary in terms of friendliness and helpfulness. Breakfast was always a joy, with good conversation with Yoann and Albert.

United StatesThe neighborhood appears to be in transition. Unfortunately, about a block away the streets are filled with garbage from the large number of homeless people living on the streets.
The staff is so kind, friendly and helpful! They went out of their way to provide whatever we needed, and they did it with a smile on their faces. PeeWee is a gem. My partner doesn't do stairs well, and I didn't realize that La Rose had three stories and a lot of stairs. I booked us in the nicest room, only to find out that it was on the third floor. They had another room available on the second floor, so we took that one. I wish I would have looked at the rooms before agreeing to the the second-floor room, because I would have kept the third-floor room as it was much bigger. My partner would have been slow, but he could have made it. I would have been more worried about the staff carrying up our two 45-pound luggage. FYI: They did carry our bags up to the second floor with ease ... such kind helpful people! The B&B itself is beautifully unique and NOT an American chain hotel, which is exactly what we prefer! The bed was comfortable, there was AC and a ceiling fan in our room and a private bathroom. The shower/tub and the floor of the bathroom was very slippery when wet. A rubber mat and a rubber backed rug would be a nice addition. There are no outlets in the bathroom, and no mirror in the bedroom. That makes it hard to do my hair, so I decided not to wash my hair because I can't blow dry it without a mirror. Adding a wall mounted mirror near an outlet would be a nice addition. The rooftop deck has a great view of Table Mountain. Be sure to go up and enjoy it! The breakfast is homemade and wonderful. Fresh baked muffins and bread. Homemade yogurt, fresh cut fruit, freshly made juice, coffee and even eggs to order. One day we left before breakfast, but they were kind enough to give us some coffee and muffins before they even opened ... it was delicious! All in all, we had a very good stay and would stay here again.

Great B&B lovely clean rooms and fab breakfasts where you can chat with other guests and your hosts and learn more about Cape Town. Nothing is too much of a problem and was really glad we visited here having had to cancel previously due to Covid years! They say good things come to those who wait. This is certainly a good thing on anyone’s Cape Town list of where to stay! Thank you all it was a pleasure to be with you!

MauritiusIf you are someone who is used to a king size bed and much space in the bedroom, you might wish to ask for a bigger room. We stayed in the Sun room and it was at times a bit too small for the 2 of us.
Both the host and the employees of the place were very welcoming and friendly. We had an awesome time chatting with the host (who sits with the guests every single day) and other guests (of various nationalities) at breakfast daily. Also, the place is walking distance to Long Street (approx 10 mins) and only 2 mins from Marco's African Place (a must if you are coming to Cape Town). Places we wanted to visit were quickly reachable by Uber from La Rose B&B. Our room was cleaned every day and towels were changed as and when required. We loved our stay at La Rose B&B and thank Yoann for his advices and for welcoming us.

I can only recommend La Rose B&B when you are in Cape Town and would like to stay in Bo-Kaap district. This property has everything what you may need, is very clean, rooms are beautiful and staff is very friendly. Also the view from the terrace is spectacular and the breakfest is delecious and plenty. There is an African Restaurant just a few steps from the B&B when you can have an amazing dinner with some live African music.
