The stove top didn't work properly, some plates dont work when switched on, and others seem to be connected to the wrong switches. The built in braai needs some repairs. The fire box is too close to the bottom tray making it impossible to get coals from it.

The bed mattresses are the worst that we have ever experienced. Worn, hard, noisy, extremely uncomfortable. I have reported this issue before, we were hoping that it had been rectified by giving the property another chance as this could be lovely chalet. However, the owners have not bothered to replace the mattresses irrespective of a fairly high price point. I have also noticed that almost every guest complained about this. Water was leaking from the toilets - the flushers are faulty and still not repaired. It does seem that the owners are really not paying attention to customers' feedback.

I loved the beautiful braai lapa which is spacious, covered, ample seating and close to the chalet. Loved that there are 3 bedrooms each with it's own private bathroom. Kitchen is fairly well equipped as well.

Dirty crockery and cutlery. Worn mattresses on the beds, toilet not resetting after flushing, handsoap in the bathrooms were almost empty

The bed is horrible , the mattress is not comfortable at all and the toilet was dripping water all the time. please we need Wi-Fi because the network at the place is very horrible

Matresses were extremely low quality,uncomfortable and noisy in all bedrooms.. Each room had a sliding door, one could not open and both the others struggled to open and close due to poor maintenance.

Loved the 3 bedrooms, each with own private bathroom. Loved the spacious kitchen. The lapa with built in braai was a pleasant surprise. Liked the covered parking. Wildlife in abundance.

The bed in my room was a bit uncomfortable, think it's old and need to be changed, but others were fine.

The area was quiet and peaceful. It was a good place to spend time with family with no distractions.

Blinds broken. TV was black and white. Fan in upstairs room did not work. Sliding door in upstairs room was off its rails and very dangerous. Lights in Lapa need replacing.

Location of lodge is great. Lapa was fab. Having 3 bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms was fab. Cleaning service lady was lovely. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances. Fridge lovely. Stove and oven worked well.

Showers have not been cleaned in some time. Towels stained and worn Generator started up across from the unit in the evening

Booked the stay in February, but on arrival, treated as a person non grata,not allowed to enter Sondela as the reception had not received notification of the booking.Unsure of where the problem originated. Totally unacceptable after a long journey to reach the destination.(Could I have some kind of explanation,so that I may avoid this happening in future?) Received the booking confirmation after waiting for over an hour at the gate. The lodge requires maintenance.The beds are the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in.(Previous reviews have noted the same.) Cutlery cheap and flimsy . Toilet's flushing mechanisms faulty and waste water. Supposed to have wi-fi,but no password was provided by owner or reception. Message that I sent to owner was ignored. Will definitely not recommend this unit as there are many others available.

Sondela one of my favorite destinations. Lodge location in the bush ideal.

Not recommendable due to outdated matresses very uncomfortable beds. Several electrical defects including the stove. Damage cutlery, outdated see through curtains. No wifi. Very pricey for what you get.

The upstairs room fan only had a super fast setting, which was too loud to sleep with it on, so it needs a new controller with several settings available.

This Makhato unit is particularly nice as the bedrooms are very big and there is a nice upstairs balcony. It is also good to have a proper kitchen table, not just a high breakfast bar.
