Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The join on the large bed made it a but uncomfortable

We were assisted by Tintswalo, and she was just phenomenal. From assisting us with our late check in to putting warm water bottles,a heater, warm blankets,refreshments,cereals,fruits for us. Your were outstanding my love, thank you so much.

A great stay that is very close to OR Tambo. The staff were amazing! The host was so lovely and accomodating. The hot water bottles on the bed were such a nice touch on a cold night. The room was lovely and spacious and very clean! We highly recommend

No shower but the bath was lovely & hot & quite a treat

Nothing really. I think what would help is a caddy in the shower. That's about it.
The guesthouse was 11 minutes away from OR TAMBO - very close so there is no need to rush. We had a comfortable stay and the apartment was very clean. There was also some cereal, milk, cooldrinks, fruit and water in the fridge for us. The room had a microwave and kettle which was a bonus. They really also want their guests to be warm...heaters, hot water bottles, electric blankets. It was really comforting. The communication was also on point.

A Seamless Stay with Exceptional Hospitality! Review: My stay at Risima Guest House was outstanding, thanks to the attentive team. Tintswalo made mornings delightful with a generous breakfast: perfectly fried eggs, savory mushrooms, juicy tomato, crispy hashbrown, fresh avocado, sourdough bread, and scones — all paired with refreshing fruit juice. The flexibility to customize meals was much appreciated! My room was cozy and well-equipped with a bar fridge and television, ensuring both comfort and convenience. At checkout, Thuli’s timely assistance allowed me to depart smoothly the moment my Uber arrived — a thoughtful touch. The location is ideal: minutes from OR Tambo Airport and close to Checkers for essentials. Highly recommended for travelers seeking comfort, kindness, and efficiency! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Nothing at all!
The place had electric blankets and hot water bottles, and it was spotlessly clean and incredibly welcoming. From the moment you walk in, you feel right at home. The biscuits and cereal in the room were a thoughtful touch. The owner clearly has great passion and respect for her business - the attention to detail is exceptional. The space has everything you need; just relax, Netflix, and unwind. The host Thuli was awesome as well thank you! PEACEFUL PERFECTION!

There is no signage at the gate to show the facility name. There is no emergency call number or intercom to help guests who may be new upon arrival.
The rooms give value for money. The staff were responsive and willing to make my stay more comfortable.

Comfortable. Little extra touches like the hot water bottle being filled before our arrival. lovely warm beds with electric blankets. Late night checkin sorted easily. Hot water bath and a comfortable bed with duvet and blankets - so nice and warm!!!

It was easy to find the hostess was very welcoming and friendly we found her waiting for us outside even though we arrived in the evening. The place itself it’s beautiful it’s exactly as shown in the pictures very clean,neat cosy ,had electric blanket bath tub which I really loved as I’m a plus size plus a shower and an extra blanket as I requested, really felt like I was at home ,the staff was also friendly would definitely recommend the place and surely would come back
