Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Check electric blanket as 1 side does not work. Shower has no curtain ? Please add more side lights for softer lighting....hate all the down lights. Could not get large front plate of stove to work.
Enjoyed doing the tourist thing and dining out. Quaint dorpie and friendly people. Very comfortable cottage in garden setting. Very friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately our stay was cut short by 1 night due to an urgent private matter. Enjoyed sitting in the sun on stoep as cottage was very cold inside Very well equipped unit.

Tiny unit about the size of a single garage.
Location excellent. Unit had everything you would expect from self catering.

Romeo was great, made us feel very welcome and kept us up to speed via whatsapp with the goings on in the town. Our room was small but very neat and clean, and had all we needed. Something not found to often was the full cream milk for our coffee and tea - well done for that!

Very badly sign posted - no name or number on the street (not easy to find) got a bit lost. It was not very clean. All the pots and pans were covered in a thin layer of dust. Window shutters and window sills had not been opened for ages, were dusty and a bit dirty. One fan stand was broken. Foot rest (lower shelf) of coffee table on the stoep (verandah) was broken and nail sticking out. When we had heavy rain, the verhandah roof was leaking in two places. The bathroom sink did not drain properly. The toilet would not refill, so in order to flush we had to take the lid off the cistern and flush it manually. You can see the place is not owner-managed. I think the owner lives overseas? Romeo the caretaker was very sweet, but was not proactive, he just apologised, and nothing got fixed during our stay. The place requires a plumber, some maintenance and some deep cleaning! It has a lot of potential.

The shower hose needed fixing but this is such a minor thing. It didn't ruin the experience.
The house is beautifully decorated whilst keeping to the historical building. Spacious and beautiful.

The shower is blocked, tiles are cracked and no shower head. We did tell the owner about the blocked shower, but it was never fixed. The bathrooms needs to be renovated. We only showered once, the other days we showered somewhere else. There is also no bedside tables. You have to put your stuff on the floor, like your phone.
The establishment is nicely equipped and the owner was really friendly and helpful. Everything was close by, it's walking distance.

Very hospitable staff - Romeo was great. The house was large, very clean and equipped with everything needed. Clean white bedding and towels. Thermos flasks to help ease the loadshedding burden.

Sorry but i have to say this and hope it will help you to improve to be a great stay. Bathroom was not clean at all. 2 single beds appeared not to have clean linen...there was hair and so on in the beds. The kettle could not be used and needs a decalc.
Lovely decor. Lovely old coal stove in the kitchen. Friendly reception. Comfortable layout and quiet area
