Beautiful space , lovely facilities and staff!

Way overpriced for anything. Bring your own wood , you’d also spend less doing game drives in other local spots. They sold wood for R50 a bag, that is R10 just outside their gate.

Summerplace is a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers—easily the best of the 50+ MTB trail venues I’ve ridden across South Africa. Tucked deep in the countryside, it’s pretty remote, but 100% worth the distance for that true wilderness experience. The accommodation is top-notch, the pool is super inviting, the restaurant has a cosy vibe, and the service is fantastic. The menu is amazing, breakfast hits the spot—but the real highlight? The pizzas. Honestly, the best I’ve ever eaten. I don’t think even Italy makes them better! It’s a big game reserve with loads of wildlife and trails for all skill levels—from easy-going group rides to thrilling, technical routes packed with fun features. It’s one of those places you just have to experience for yourself!

If I had to say something negative, it would be an injustice.

Oh man everything about the reserve was just so beautiful. The staff is super friendly, the tents are so clean you can even eat off the floor. It definitely is worth every rand spent.

Untouched nature with perfect glamping tents with a view yet very private. The meals were delicious and looked absolutely fabulous. Our romantic weekend was perfect. Big thanks to the staff and that very cozy hot tub.

This place is absolutely breath taking! Staff are friendly and welcoming. The facilities are great, the hiking trails and bike trails are well maintained and looked after. The restaurant is out of this world, we didn't have their pizza's but they looked tasty, we had food from their set menus and it was super delicious.

Location was great, easy travel from JHB

In the unit we stayed in, the main bathroom light did not work, solar lights provided was not sufficient lighting. Hot water in sink very unpredictable and not flowing consistently. Kitchen does not have glass oven dishes or steel oven roasting/braai dishes.

We loved everything. Jerry-Lee was an amazing receptionist. Very friendly and welcoming. She was just a phone call away. We even extended our stay because of how amazing the place is.

The WiFi never worked which I think it’s something the property needs to work on, or at least communicate with guests on time to prepare them mentally as one of the selling points for the place was “WiFi”

The luxury hideout tents are out of this world. The hideouts are also perfect if you’re looking to be offline for a while, very quiet, no Tv and internet. The staff was exceptionally attentive and friendly.

The accommodation is in the bush and as expected there is a lot of gravel. I would advise that if you’re not driving a 4x4, give yourself enough driving time so you can drive slowly and safely.

We stayed at The Hideout tents and had an unforgettable glamping experience. The tent is beautifully decorated, luxurious yet immersed in nature. The private hot tub was an absolute highlight. The staff were incredibly friendly making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Every meal at the restaurant was delicious and full of flavour.

Only a beverage cooler, no bar fridge with a freezer to keep ice frozen. Braai facilities at The Hideout would be a great addition. If you’re planning to visit, highly recommend a high clearance vehicle/suv as some of the dirt roads to the hideout tents are not great.
