Just a suggestion - the al carte menu can have more dinner options if you stay more than three nights. Otherwise, a superb setting, perfect for a corporate event or function.

Beautiful location, just outside Stellenbosch. Loved everything about it. Devon Valley will be my preferred place to stay in Stellenbosch. (Easy access to town and not so busy surroundings or traffic)

Very comfortable, stylish hotel in a beautiful location;. Bedrooms were beautiful and we slept well. The staff were first class, helpful and friendly. The pool area was great in the hot weather we had there. The food, especially breakfast, was very good. The views from the terraces were stunning.

Parking a fair distance from reception. Help was available for the bags - but it still meant a walk back to the car in the rain.

The property is handy for Stellenbosch and surrounding areas. There is plenty of parking - although some way from the premises. Our room was comfortable and spacious enough. A highlight was the restaurant. Our evening meal was excellent as was breakfast. We had stayed in a number of other excellent hotels over that period - and The Devon Valley food shone above the others.

Not much was wrong with the hotel It can be a little noise with baggage cases being dragged outside rooms when guests arrive or leave.

The water was going hot and then cold even though not touching the taps while trying to take a shower. The plug of the kettle not working properly as it was switching on and off while trying to boil. Not enough space between the toilet and the bath.

water pressure from taps in shower in bathroom was difficult to manage to get correct temperature and we definitely needed 2 rooms key cards which was not possible.

1. The wait staff could be more knowledgeable about the food. 2. The water in the shower was either scolding hot and ice cold.... it was basically impossible to get the temperature correct. We eventually gave up and used the bath. 3. We only ordered 3 things other than breakfast: crumbed camembert - took more than 45mins to arrive and came cold prawn tempura - basically prawn heads and batter gnochi rolls - this was just a bad idea and should be removed from menu -> To sum up.... the food was terrible 4. Ordered 2 cocktails.... also took ages to arrive... more than 40mins... and the restaurant was at 20% capacity so no real reason for the slow service and the cocktails were not good.... There is definite room for improvement in a few areas... but the setting does go a long way... the grounds and view are very very beautiful and the staff were all very friendly.

Food could be improved. Not much variety of fruit avail for breakfast and the bacon was terrible. Hard and dry, would be nice to have the option of steaky bacon aswell instead of just back bacon. Ordered a Burger and Cajun Salad for dinner, wasnt impressed. The patty was more like a frikkadel, not much flavour and the roll was a panini, very hard and difficult to cut, should rather be a burger bun. The chicken in my salad was overcooked and hard, lacked flavour and didnt have any Cajun seasoning on it at all. It was very bland.. had very little dressing on it, very basic.

We enjoyed our time at the pool and the bar. Cocktails were great and the Barmen were attentive. Staff are super friendly and very helpful. The room was cosy and romantic. A cute kitty greeted us at reception :-)

The hotel was great, what made it superb was the Staff. My wife and I were both poorly for part of our stay, nothing to do with the hotel, but the staff did everything they could to help us. Great find we will be back to a beautiful hotel.

The loose shower head in the bathroom was broken and aircon a bit noisy. The rooms feel like they are nearing a needed refresh. Otherwise it was an amazing property. We enjoyed the pool and breakfast was delicious. I would recommend this property.

Obviously some “cosmetic” changes have been made to the rooms, but things like bathrooms need more than a touch up! Our bathroom still had the ugly tiles of the sixties and the shower is a disaster i.e. non functional. very slippery, basically cold water only (unless one has the patience to maybe wait a half hour and the water pressure is near zero) sink: same problem, no water mix. The staff is very friendly but not well trained! The food was excellent.

unique location, beautiful quiet place (therefore the ever present background music is too loud and sometimes “the wrong kind”… ) the hotel and rooms are nice but quite old. The gardens, trees, and surroundings, as well as the view are stunning.
