The place its warm, you wint even thunk uts winter. His dogs are so friendly, i did not like dog at first. But later i was the one playing with them. The Boma was good, well prepared. Its a nice place!!!!!!!!

The location is next level, with lots of trees and the river flowing close to the chalet is heaven on earth.

Everything was as expected especially after reading the reviews. There was a bit of room oudor especially when it's closed which I think is due to the wet thatch roof as it had been raining.

Great location! Although the staff were on a well-deserved Christmas break, the facility manager, Ian, went above and beyond to take excellent care of us. When the staff returned, they were equally amazing. The place is surrounded by nature, with thoughtful touches that show great respect and care for our African soil.

a lot of insects and cockroaches that were getting into our rooms and making noise in the evening. There were some bees in the toilet of one of the rooms. The area is very hot but there is no aircons only fans in the rooms. No internet connection.

The host was very welcoming, ensuring we got everything we needed. If you are a nature lover this is the place to be, I like the braai area set up and kitchen, you get to interact with other guests. The bed is so comfortable that I had to make arrangements to check out at 11 with no extra costs. I would definitely return

There was just a kettle and fridge in our room with utensils you have to walk 400m to heat up food or cook There was no space to pack anything on we went and baught cheap plastic tables so we van use it to pack our food ect on. NO WIFIin our room the wifi is at the owners house as well as the swimming pool. No tv To be honest I feel like I spent a lot of money for whar I hoped to be a 4 star room as rated when I booked but I felt like I was on a school camp.

Overall I give The Island River Lodge a 10/10 rating. Pros: Location, beautiful views and wildlife. The accommodation was exceptionally clean and pleasant. If you desire a good relaxing retreat surrounded by nature this is the place to go.

Breakfast was not provided, we walked quite a distance to make our own breakfast. The owner was accommodating with certain things. I understand the property is in the bush, however with proper maintenance and regular cleaning there shouldn't be issues. Price was high considering there was no shampoo, conditioner, tea, cofee, sugar etc.

All though there was a storm a few nights before that showered the property with branches (understandable) there are minor maintenance that needs more regular attention. The road to the property (overgrown grass and branches). The low bridges were flooded which meant we had to use the hang bridge which was a bit overgrown. Things that can be sorted before peak season. That said the owner was very welcoming and made as feel at home.
