We liked the traditional authentic feel about it. The Italian restaurant was superb.
Lobby and common area were really lovely, with an old Malaysian style asthetic. We liked that the rooms were old style but the bathroom looks to have been updated. It was all very nice and clean and well kept. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. Would recommend getting a traditional Malaysian breakfast at the roti place in the market right outside the hotel.
Fantastic hotel, such wonderful and friendly reception staff. Very comfortable beds and everything fitted and furnished to a high standard. Great value for money. Located 10 mins walk from centre of Georgetown on a quiet and nice road opposite a gem of a Michelin starred restaurant offering Nyonya and local Peranakan food, bonus not expensive! Beautifully restored traditional building. Loved this hotel and would definitely return and recommend.
When you enter the hotel, you feel like you have entered an ancient Asian courtyard, with a historical flavor but a very modern living environment. Overall very beautiful and very clean. The room is large with high ceiling and the tourist information provided by the hotel is very comprehensive. Every staff is very friendly. Value for every penny
Historical building with the right cultural atmosphere and relaxing inner-courtyard. Walking distance from cafes and bars. Staff was very welcoming and friendly.
Lovingly restored heritage house, every detail is perfect, from the high- ceilinged rooms to the interior courtyards, which are full of plants and tibkling water (as well as self-service coffee tea and water). The location is a little away from the historic centre, but that's fine, and it means it's quiet. The fact that the bathrooms are separate from the rooms is fine, in my mind, and means the historic flavour of the place is intact. I ended up staying extra nights, and if I ever come back to Penang, this is high on my list.
The attention to detail in this wonderful heritage hotel was awesome. I loved the various local delights at breakfast such as kueh and roti. The scrambled eggs were great too. Sitting in the all day cafe and gazing at the street life was a wonderful way to while away the hours, the garden courtyard was an oasis. The food in the cafe was excellent. My studio room was huge with a fridge which was a bonus. The lovely staff were always on hand to help.
