After Palermo, in spite of its fascinating history and architecture, reminded me why traveling to big cities alone isn't really my thing, I wanted to relax a bit. The exceptional staff at Hotel Kalaru explained everything to me in perfect German and I realized that I should come back here! Next time not alone probably. The bed was extremely comfortable. One afternoon down at the beautiful and relatively protected beach was enough to make the long train ride to Sicily worthwhile. Cefalu was relatively empty on my full day there, thanks to what was probably the first rain of the season, and I was able to have a long look at the mosaics in Cefalu cathedral.
