We travelled to Ijen on the very first evening. The tour was organised by the host and went smoothly. We had a really great guide who gave us lots of background information during the trip. Ijen really was an experience! I would say that you need to be reasonably fit, especially if you want to climb into the crater to look at the blue fire. We would also definitely recommend sturdy shoes and warm/rainproof clothing! The rooms and communal areas are beautifully and lovingly furnished. All in all, a great trip!

The breakfast was amazing with many choices of Indonesian food. The hotel clearly supports Indonesian culinary for the guests. Amenities were good and we can get water from a dispenser outside the room. It was such a nice service that the guests don't need to ask for water from the hotel as the tap water in Indonesia was undrinkable.
