Ryokans in Nachikatsuura

The staff were so friendly and accommodating, speaking in English for us tourists. The rooms were clean and beautiful. This was by far our favorite place we stayed at during our visit to Japan!

This location was absolutely gorgeous, and I really enjoyed the luxury of oceanside accommodations after my long hike on the Kumano Kodo. The staff was EXTREMELY kind and helpful I was blown away. I felt truly like a luxury. I missed dinner, but breakfast was exquisite.

The front desk and dining staff here were great. They answered all of my questions and were very friendly and efficient. The Japanese traditional room was lovely, and the ocean view was fantastic. I enjoyed the onsen very much, and it was very clean and pleasant, with two baths, one small bath that was outside for fresh air. Loved the large yukatas, too! The breakfast was very good: very local, traditional, and fresh, and my table had a nice ocean view. Great dining service! The hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the JR station and downtown Nachikatsuura, and not far from other onsens if you would like to try many onsens in the area. There is a good, small Izakaya restaurant just a few minutes down the street if you prefer a different dinner.

The staff were helpful and nice, we felt very welcome. The breakfast and dinner options were delicious, with a big selection of food and drinks, amazing fish and sashimi especially. The onsen and the local surroundings were beautiful, a lot of rooms have a view of the ocean. Nachi waterfall is accessible by bus from the station which is a ~10min walk from this resort. Incredible experience.

Unique location. It is practically the only way to complete the Kumano Kodo (arrivale afternoon) and enjoy the site (sunset and the morning after, when the place is empty) Excellent and rich meals. Ask for the rooms overlooking the Nachi waterfalls.

Nice staff, complimentary coffee/tea, good onsen, close to the train station.

We had a group of 5 people and stayed in the Deluxe family room. Everything was clean and prepared for our arrival and the staff showed us around all of the facilities and explained everything to us in English as we did not speak much Japanese, Not all of the staff spoke English, however anytime we had a query that required it they would always help us to speak with someone who did which was extremely helpful. The room itself was extremely spacious and came with 2 large beds and 3 tatami beds that were setup for us when we went for dinner. The room had all of the amenities that you could need and also gave each person a yukata and sandals that could be worn around the entire site. The balcony overlooks the bay and other areas on the island and is very beautiful, particularly at sunrise and sunset. The food for both dinner and breakfast was exceptional. The staff were extremely attentive and explained each of the courses to us in English and were always on hand for even the smallest request. There is a fantastic walk on the top of the island that is accessible via the main lift and is a brilliant spot for photographs or just to relax in the quiet although the staff explained that it is closed when it is dark so make sure not to miss out on it if you are interested. The site has both indoor and outdoor Onsen's which are rotated between Men and Women each day. These were extremely well kept and have all of the necessities for showering beforehand etc. These were absolutely the highlight of the accommodation and I would thoroughly recommend that everyone uses them at least once during their stay. The boats to and from the mainland can be arranged with staff up to every 15 minutes and they can also arrange a free taxi shuttle service from the dock to the train station nearby I would also just like to mention about how exceptional all of the staff were. We felt welcome from the moment we set foot on the boat to the moment we stepped back off it.

The onsen in a cave experience was so soothing and relaxing. One could listen to and watch the waves while bathing in the warm healing waters. Also the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Oohatta especially came to my aid to help me with my travel logistics the following day. The whole atmosphere is calm and welcoming. I also enjoyed taking a ferry from the Katsuura pier to get there. No complaints at all.

I loved the open air bath. The room was spacious with comfortable beds and with a beautiful view towards the sea. The hotel is a bit remote, so all the surrounding area is very calm and quiet. And the breakfast was delicious, the best we've head in Japan. ❤️

It is very close to the train station and bus station. The breakfast they provided were very delicious. They do provide vegetarian meals, which is very rare in Japan. Mika, Kieda and the other young boy are very helpful. Thank you all.🙏🙏🙏
