An exceptional ryokan with outstanding service and incredibly polite staff. The atmosphere is peaceful, cozy, and very private. Our room with a private onsen was absolutely amazing, and the kaiseki dinner was unforgettable — truly a culinary experience.

A short stay at this Ryokan was exceptional! We booked for one day and were greeted with many friendly staff members. They were very helpful in giving us directions and tour of our open bath room. We went during a slower day so was able to experience the public bath to ourselves. Our own private bath was also very comfortable and relaxing. On top of this, you must experience the traditional breakfast and dinner menu, the food was unique and quite filling! Lastly, although the location is farther from the train station, they offer free shuttles, highly recommend!

The property is exceptionally beautiful with a panorama view of the Osaka Bay delta plain... It is only about 30 minutes from downtown Osaka, and yet totally surrounded by woods and especially Japanese maple, for which this area is famous. The hotel is 70's chic minimalist Japanese architecture. It has a fireplace in the lobby, and an authentic Japanese rustic feel. There is nothing like this location and architecture and the building designed for optimal viewing of the valley below anywhere else in the Kansai area. If you like authentic Japanese inn's, this is it. The food was delicious authentic seasonal Japanese food. I appreciated that the chef/hotel accommodated my requests for foods that I was unable to eat.

Hotel Wakamizu was exactly what we needed in our Japan honeymoon! A 30 min train ride from Osaka this little town was the perfect get away. The hotel had all the amenities we could need and then some. The staff was more than kind and patient with us since we don’t speak a lot of Japanese and were very accommodating to us. We last minute asked if we could schedule a massage in the same day and they sent a masseuse to our hotel room that worked wonders on our achey body! We booked the deluxe suite that had the private onsen patio and it had the most fabulous view, softest robes and great toiletries that the hotel provided us. They really made our stay luxurious and relaxing. We cannot thank them enough for their hospitality and kindness, this stay will be remembered for ever.

It was an amazing ryokan! Of course, we have nothing to compare it to since it was our first experience, but it exceeded all our expectations. 1. The private bath in the room was fantastic! My boyfriend and I were absolutely thrilled with it. Plus, the view from the room was stunning. 2. The kaiseki was incredible! Every dish was unique and delicious. They were beautifully decorated for the momiji (autumn leaves) season, which was such a lovely touch. 3. The hot springs themselves were wonderful; it was such a pleasure to spend time there. They were also very understanding about my tattoo. It’s quite large and on my ribs, but they gave me two big skin-colored patches that completely covered it, so I didn’t scare anyone. :) 4. The yukatas were beautiful. And there’s a manga corner in the lobby on the first floor—perfect for some reading! :) 5. The transfer service was very convenient. We missed the 3:30 PM shuttle from Ikeda Station and could only arrive at 7:00 PM. However, I called the hotel at 4:00 PM to let them know we missed the transfer and asked if it was possible for them to pick us up at 7:00 PM instead. The staff kindly informed me that the transport would be waiting for us at the designated time at Ikeda Station. And that’s exactly what happened—everything went smoothly and was very convenient.
