the experience of a Japanese dinner and breakfast was awesome. The staff was incredible and could not have done a better job with the breakfast and dinner. The owner of the property was amazing, she went out of her way to get us our bus schedule and tickets to Shiranawa and Takayama, she took me to the bus station to buy the tickets and pay for the taxi on our return to the hotel, she could not have done a better service. our party of four was very impressed with our stay on October 16th to the 17th.

Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort, hotel in Takayama

Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodations featuring hot spring baths and nature views.

Well, I don't even know where to start. The summary - this Hotel is definitely the highlight point of our whole 2024 journey through Japan. For context - it's the third time we are in this country and this time we've been traveling for a whole month. If you have a chance to go here - don't hesitate. This is the hotel to enjoy the culture and cuisine most conveniently. As for the details: Japanese-Western Room with Hot Spring Bath - exceeded all of my expectations several times. Just wow, this new, this modern yet with a very clear Japanese style, and the second wow for all of the space, such a luxury! The wood, the details, the quality, impeccable cleanness. The bath deserved its own wow. So convenient, with regulated heat and a wide window with an option to open it and keep privacy. The staff speaks English very well. Lots of additional perks like simple but free "nighttime ramen", beverages, snacks, and sake. Great onsen space with additional private but free spots to enjoy it for couples, kids, and friends. Well managed, friendly. And the building itself - the amazingly decorated corridors, the lamps, the floors, the info tables, and the signs - I've enjoyed every inch of them. Well done with the whole design and keeping it in such a great shape. We've had half board options - high-quality Kaiseki for breakfast and Shabu-Shabu or Yakiniku for dinner. The hotel offers helpful transfer, convenient for large travel bag users. Without them - it's pretty close to the bus station. So many things I liked, but the last one to mention is the view from our restaurant counter, it really looks like a picture, but it's the mindblowing reality.

The property is better than showed in the pictures. The staff is really nice, and very well-disposed and concerned about the comfort of guests. Local breakfast very abundant and varied, and cooked with plenty of love. The location is perfect, just 3 blocks away from the station. Beds and pillows were pretty comfortable. The place has an onsen that you can enjoy to relax at the end of the day. If you are really willing to experience a true Japanese experience, I highly recommend this Ryokan.

The ultimate choice for an authentic Japanese Ryokan experience! We had a room with Tatami mats and futon beds, a private bathroom and we got to wear Yukatas in and out of the hotel. The staff was super friendly and helped us with whatever we needed and breakfast was also great (Both the Japanese and European one). The Train and Bus stations were just 2 minutes walking distance. Traditional Japanese Ryokan with nicely decorated rooms. This was my first Ryokan experience and I have never felt as well cared for as during my stay there. Futon was very comfortable, too (I have never slept on one before). Staff is very attentive and helpful. Great inhouse onsens. Yukata were available for free for guests. Many ammendities were available for free and I loved their shampoo. Takayama old city center is just a 15 min walk away. Takayama station is just 6 min away by foot.

Beautiful yet remote ryokan. It has a real authentic Japanese feeling complete with tatami floors, futon beds and (private and public) onsen. Highly recommend the kaiseki add-on, it was delicious!! Very spacious room with private bathroom and outside onsen. We had a wonderful stay!

Vegetarian traditional breakfast was offered upon request! We loved it and our whole stay at this traditional Ryokan! The Onsen is not too hot (still hot haha) and super relaxing. There are even two private Onsen available free of charge (min. 2 people). The rooms are very beautiful and quiet and you’ve got the opportunity to wear Yukata during your stay. We can highly recommend and would love to come back!

Staying at Ryokan Asunaro is an authentic experience. Our comfortable room, wearing the yukatas, sleeping on the futons, the kaiseki dinner and breakfast, the onsen - was all so enjoyable! The staff are very courteous and friendly too.

Food is the highlight here. Both of the breakfasts I had were wonderful feasts, with warm dishes cooked on little burners at the table. One had crab, beef and tofu stew, eggs, bacon, sausage, all in one meal. The onsen are great. Staff are friendly. All the usual trappings of a Ryokan are here, sandals, tatami, yukata, keys with huge blocky keyrings

Beautiful Japanese Inn! The room was spacious, and the futon was comfy enough to asleep. Free drinks available downstairs and for the breakfast. Onsen was small but well maintained. This Ryokan is old but the shower room and toilet were all renovated and super clean. Staffs are very kind!
