A traditional feeling Ryokan, not too expensive, very attentive owners. The view from the room was beautiful and so relaxing after walking all around Yoshino. The onsen was fantastic, especially the side with the working outdoor tub. The meals were very special, with dietary needs accommodated when expressed.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. It is truly a traditional ryokan stay. Accommodation - The rooms are spacious, very clean, you get all the amenities you can imagine, it has an onsen and the food is delicious. Staff - The staff is beyond wonderful - we were greeted by name when we arrived and throughout the stay. And the staff actually put the effort to pronounce my name correctly (not the Japanese version of it). Not everyone speaks English but honestly it doesn’t even matter. I would like to say a big “Thank you” to Shimoda-sama who served us dinner for two nights. She is such a lovely lady and so was the rest of the staff working there from the receptionist to the door attendants who would run to the door when we would arrive. I also think we were the only people in the hotel for the first 2 nights. Food - The food was delicious and served in a private, big room. It wasn’t cheap though and we had to order it in advance (same day in the morning) because we didn’t pre-book it. There aren’t a lot of options to eat nearby either, being in a quite remote location. There is a restaurant at the temple across the road but it closes at 3 PM. Location - The location is a bit remote but it’s beautiful, in the woods and across the road from an ancient temple, maybe one of the most beautiful I’ve seen in Japan so far. There is a bus station next to the hotel but the buses don’t come very often - maybe once/hr? The hotel also offered us a free shuttle bus at certain times. I would recommend to take a walk/ hike to Asuka village from the hotel. We made a day trip out of it because it can take a few hrs but it was all worth it. We saw wild wisteria, walked through rice fields, empty hills filled with flowers and saw wild monkeys in the woods.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel room is spacious and very clean, exactly as described & shown on the photos on Booking.com. The staff are all very polite, service-minded and friendly. The check in & out process was effective and they are helpful with luggage. The hotel has a real authentic Japanese style. We also enjoyed the in-house hot-spring bath. The best experience of our stay were the two dinners, which were really nice, authentic Japanese foods with many different specialties and served in a real Japanese way. Although I have visited Japan many times when staying in large hotels, this is the first time I experienced the authentic Japanese hospitality. It is highly recommended.

The meals are the best of our whole trip in Japan. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is nested by the creek yet right across the street from the bus stop. The location is perfect. The host gave us a ride to the nearby public Onsen and gave us a tour to the Tenkawa Daibenziten-Sha Shrine, where the Emperor of the Southern Court had lived around 700 years ago. We took a less than two-hour scenic hike to the Dorogawa Onsen village, and 25 minutes bus back. Loved their private bath which includes both indoor and outdoor tubs all to yourself but needs to book with the host.

Great location with a short hike up the hill taking you to Yoshino's main street.. The staff/owners were very friendly and helpful and the food was great. The onsen was also nice, if possibly a bit small if more people had been there. It was perfect for us though as they were not busy.

The owner and staff are very kind and caring. The woman who serves the meals was great and took time to help us understand what all the varieties of food were. It is a great traditional japanese inn experience with a nice onsen and good quality meals. The location has great views as well, it would be excellent during cherry blossom season.
