Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama.

Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience.

Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. This place was amazing! You stepped into a quiet, calm sanctuary. Room was very comfortable. The staff was super kind and helpful! A small but very intimate onsen helps you relax. Bed was comfortable. And the traditional japanese breakfast was amazing! I would come back again! And hopefully I shall! ありがとうございます

At the property, there is an on-site family-friendly restaurant serving dinner and a selection of vegetarian options. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The onsen was amazing with a few options if you wanted something outside or indoors. The hostess was extremely helpful and friendly, and cooked great meals. The decor is fantastic and was everything I had hoped for when coming to Japan.

1.6 km from Takayama Station, Iroriyado Hidaya is a recently renovated property situated in Takayama and features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. This 4-star ryokan offers luggage storage space and bicycle parking. The ryokan has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and full-day security. We're very happy that we selected Hidaya as our first ever ryokan experience. The staff was lovely, instantly made us feel at home and helped us to get the most of our short visit to Takayama (recommendations, taxi and restaurants booking, yukata rental and much, much more). The Japanese style breakfast was delicious and varied from day to day. The place is very charming and well maintained. The small hot bath was a very nice addition that we've used multiple times. It's located quite far from any attractions so a car/taxi is your best bet but it can be reached on foot within 10min from a nearby bus stop and around 30min from the historic center. Highly recommended! Takayama was definitely a highlight of our trip and Hidaya was big part of it. Thank you for your hospitality!

Set in Shirakawa in the Gifu region, with Shirakawago nearby, Shiroyamakan features accommodation with access to a hot tub. The 4-star ryokan features river views and is 47 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Shiroyamakan is located right in front of a bus stop, next to the main street of the ghasso village, so the location is excellent. The owners are lovely and try their best to speak English and are open to talking via translator too. We arrived a bit late, but the owner waited for us and took us for a ride around the village, talked about important landmarks and took photos of us in the viewing spot overlooking the village. Ryokan has two new, beautiful private hot baths, so I was able to take one with my husband. Another highlight of the stay was dinner - I didn't expect it to be a two hour 10-course meal! Since there are only four rooms, staff is able to talk to each table and explain what is served. When it comes to the room, we stayed in a 150-years old traditional room with futons and an inside balcony. The room was clean, had AC and a small fridge, the atmosphere was excellent. Breakfast was smaller, but still beautifully served and delicious. After check out, hosts taken a picture of us in front of the hotel and let us store our bags inside until the afternoon. Everyone was so lovely, staying at Shiroyamakan was an amazing experience! I'd love to go back one day.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Such a perfect stay - we were blown away. The place is in a very beautiful onsen village in a quiet part of Japan. Super easy to get to from Takayama & to visit Kamikochi. The owners were so kind & accomodating. We had a huge traditional bedroom complete with futon, tea & kimono. Private outdoor onsens we could use as a couple. The food was absolutely incredible. Soooo much love & thought went into every course. It was the best meal of the trip. Thank you so much for having us!
