Boasting hot spring baths and a beautiful garden overlooking the ocean, Toba International Hotel Shiojitei offers luxurious accommodation in Toba. We booked this hotel for three nights at the end of a very busy fortnight touring. It provided the rest and relaxation we hoped for. The hotel had a lounge area with plenty of seats and sofas, something lacking in all hotels we stayed in previously. The onsen experience was unique and traditional. The traditional Japanese breakfast was a great experience, although we used the sister hotel (a five minute walk away) for the buffet style breakfast and French dinner restaurant for the other days. The spa room in the sister hotel had a beautiful view and the treatments were excellent. The staff were polite and helpful.

The female owner has an inquisitive mind, a warm personality, and a kind heart. Her English is good enough to communicate and ask for help. The sauna and the private onsen in the room are top-notch. I did not check the public onsen with natural hot spring, but heard it's amazing too. I booked the 5th floor with an ocean view, and the private onsen experience during starry night and the set rise were indeed amazing! The hotel itself is located in a remote little cute fish town called osatsucho, where you can find fishmen and women harvesting and selling the Ise lobsters in the morning by the port. It was a very unique and interesting experience to stay in that little town for two days during the winter when it was not crowded at all. The nearest convenience store is 10 + miles away. It was a very natural, grounding, even retreat-like experience to me, and it was drastically different from my experience in Tokyo, Nayoga, or Osaka. I did spot a few demolished houses with broken windows in the town, not sure if it's because of COVID or during the winter when there were fewer tourists. The big plus is the Shinmei shrine next door to the hotel, which is a very calming and spiritual place to visit and stay for a bit too.

The hotel is beautiful, comfortable and clean. The food is luxurious, delicious and the quantity can stun the biggest eaters. But most of all, the hospitality of the staff is over the roof, absolutely exceptional service and kindness, words can't express how much we have been taken care of. Really grateful for all the kindness.

Isegekusando Iseshinsen se nachází 2 minuty chůze od vlakového nádraží Iseshi a nabízí bezplatné Wi-Fi ve všech prostorách a vnitřní i venkovní termální koupele. Private roten buro-bath was exceptional. The room was huge. Self-service coffee bar was nice and food was more than we could eat.

Oishiya se 3 hvězdičkami se nachází v destinaci Ise. Ubytování nabízí prostor pro úschovu zavazadel a restauraci. Na místě je k dispozici soukromé parkoviště. We LOVED the personalised service provided in traditional inns - especially by our caretaker and waitron Yasuyo Ohnishi! There can be no better location on the seashore within reach of Ise Temple Complex, located on Futiminoura Beach. They will pick you up and drop you off at the closest station and a  100m walk to the beautiful "wedded rocks (at Futamiokitama Shinto Shrine) is worth it even on a hot day! It was pouring  rain when we arrived early so the driver dropped us off a beautifully restored old traditional mansion set in a tranquil zen garden to wait for reception to open at 3pm. We only realised later it's only 3 houses away from the hotel so easily accessible bonus for Oishiya's guests ! The meals (dinner and breakfast was included) was exceptional and extensive with more than 5 courses, each one beautifully arranged in trays and in stunning pottery, served by the lovely and ever helpful  Yashyu Ohnishi in her immaculate kimono Dinner was attended in the Inn's provided kimono's which really added to the experience of Japanese culture we were looking for in a traditional Inn or Ryokan like this. The private Onsen (hot spring bath) was a great bonus for two shy westerners as was the slightly raised western beds in our beautiful tatami mat room with a view to the ocean and shoji screens (rather than curtains) to manage the light! It was by far the most pleasant and perfect stay in more than 30 years of travel internationally!
