At the ryokan, every unit has a tatami. The ryokan offers certain units that feature river views, and the units come with a shared bathroom and a desk. The units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a flat-screen TV. The hosts were very warm and friendly! They informed us if the hot baths were extended so that we would be able to stay in it longer than the listed 4pm-10pm. Also, when we thought we lost our cellphone there after departing on the bus, after we contacted them, they immediately went to look for it. We borrowed the free bikes and rode around the town. They provided us a map so we could navigate our way around. The view from the bike trails to the view from our bedroom was beautiful. Just like out of a painting. The pictures do not do this place justice. It's best to take it in with your own eyes! This place is an hour bus ride from Kyoto. You'll see people growing their own food and the local food places source from them! The pizza we had at one of the local places over ran the view of the river and it was a fantastic pizza. The baths are communal and the hot bath was fantastic. The women's bathroom especially was filled with lots of towels, pretty decorations, and lots of lotions for use. I like the face cleanser provided so much, I went and bought the same one! There are also two massage chairs in the women's baths. The men's baths had a foot massager. The bathrooms are also shared. They were freshly cleaned every single day! Also, we got yukatas to wear while staying there. We only stayed two nights, but the hosts kindly offered to let us change it daily. After we checked out, we were given beautiful magnet gifts of Kyoto sights. We highly recommend if you visit to bright a small gift from your home country like a local snack or candy to exchange gifts. Staying here was like staying with our lovely grandparents in the countryside. We spent two nights here in between our Tokyo and Osaka trips. We definitely recommend staying here to relax and slow down after shopping and visiting the active cities.

The hosts were extremely gracious, and I love that it’s family-owned, in the building they live in! There is lovely tatami in the rooms and pretty comfy futons, with beautiful, minimalist decoration. Yukata and tea were provided for a full, relaxing ryokan stay.
We loved this place, we would not hesitate to stay here again. Very warm welcome from the staff, the ambience is traditional Ryokan meets modern facilities. We enjoyed making up our futons, we all slept so well. Spotlessly clean. Thank you!
Incredible two-floor house. The first floor is where you cook and do the living. Really spacious and well lit, with enough kitchen utensils for cooking. The bath is huge, you really feel like royalty. The second floor is where you sleep. It consists of two traditional Japanese dormitories with tatami and futons!!
The location and grounds are great, as are the layout and facilities of the ryokan. My adult daughter and my wife loved the visit and had nothing but praise for the experience, including the food and the onsens.
Amazing ryokan! They are so welcoming and kind, the rooms were big and futons were comfy. The breakfast was really nice. Location is absolutely perfect, close to the market.
Unique take on Japanese ryokan concept in a modern hotel with tatami mats across the hotel including public areas. One word for breakfast - superb! The refreshment after hot bath / sauna is also excellent.
Loved my stay here! It was a great experience to stay at a ryokan, and this room was perfect. The tatami mats and futon were very comfortable to sleep on. Having the paper sliding doors was also pretty cool for us. We also chose to hire the outdoor bath and it was heavenly! Couldn't recommend it more
If one doesn't mind futons and shared bathroom then this place is a must for anyone who wishes to experience staying at a traditional Ryokan. This place will suprise you on how much service and comfort you'll get compared to the price you pay.
This is a very traditional Japanese Ryokan. If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is it. Very comfortable, futons are on the floor so please do not expect a bed. However, clean, comfortable and lovely food. There is a single sex hot bath and shower area which is incredibly convenient and lovely addition to the hotel.
From the moment we arrived we were met with smiling staff who were there to help with anything and everything our entire stay. We had reserved a room with private bath (onsen but without the mineral spring water) which was a wonderful experience as we weren’t comfortable going to a public onsen. My son and I loved exploring, and there is so much to see in the area. From traditional breakfasts to a Kaiseki dinner, futon beds and the bathing room it summed up a traditional Kyoto experience for me.
