Located 500 metres from Kintetsu Iseshi Train Station, Hoshidekan Ryokan (a member of the Japanese Inn Group) is a wooden building that was built in the 1920's and provides Japanese-style rooms with... Very friendly staff and a good location. The facilities were very traditional but comfortable. Will book again if I’m in the area.

48 km from Ubuta Shrine in Kihokucho, Kii no Matsushima features accommodation with access to a hot tub. Featuring free shuttle service, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. We were bike packing the Pacific cycle route and this guesthouse is on the route so very convenient. Lovely family rum establishment with everyone making a real effort to please. Magnificent meals. Highly recommended

Located in Suizawa, 22 km from Suzuka Circuit, Tabist Miya Yokkaichi Suizawa provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. I was expecting ordinary cheap accommodation, but I got a pleasant stay in an old Japanese house. Bathroom and toilet outside the room, but extremely clean and comfortable. You can have breakfast or dinner in the bistro next door. There are tea plantations around, a beautiful environment. In the category of "cheap accommodation", it is absolutely exceptional.

Located within 20 km of Ubuta Shrine and 39 km of Kumano Hayatama Taisha, Owase Seaside View provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Owase. Amazing accommodations and amenities, beautiful view, a good onsen available basically all the time, and amazing food. I highly recommend booking the sea view room, and getting breakfast and dinner included. The quality of service blew us away. All the staff are extremely kind, and the dinners we had here were our favourites from our trip.

Offering sea views, Ise-Shima Ohtaya Healing Stay is an accommodation situated in Toba, 700 metres from Chidorigahama Beach and 29 km from Ise Grand Shrine. I really like this place. The female owner has an inquisitive mind, a warm personality, and a kind heart. Her English is good enough to communicate and ask for help. The sauna and the private onsen in the room are top-notch. I did not check the public onsen with natural hot spring, but heard it's amazing too. I booked the 5th floor with an ocean view, and the private onsen experience during starry night and the set rise were indeed amazing! The hotel itself is located in a remote little cute fish town called osatsucho, where you can find fishmen and women harvesting and selling the Ise lobsters in the morning by the port. It was a very unique and interesting experience to stay in that little town for two days during the winter when it was not crowded at all. The nearest convenience store is 10 + miles away. It was a very natural, grounding, even retreat-like experience to me, and it was drastically different from my experience in Tokyo, Nayoga, or Osaka. I did spot a few demolished houses with broken windows in the town, not sure if it's because of COVID or during the winter when there were fewer tourists. The big plus is the Shinmei shrine next door to the hotel, which is a very calming and spiritual place to visit and stay for a bit too.

Sun Urashima Yuki no Sato provides accommodation in Toba. Boasting free shuttle service, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Both breakfast and dinner were tasty, served in the restaurant private dining rooms, carefully crafted and excellent service. Big thank you to the staff :)

Located in Toba in the Mie region, with Shirahama Beach and Toba Sea-Folk Museum nearby, Hanashinsui provides accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. The hotel is beautiful, comfortable and clean. The food is luxurious, delicious and the quantity can stun the biggest eaters. But most of all, the hospitality of the staff is over the roof, absolutely exceptional service and kindness, words can't express how much we have been taken care of. Really grateful for all the kindness.
