In a renovated pre-colonial house from 1630, El Balcon features a charming terraced garden and views of Cusco from every room. Machu Picchu excursions and massage sessions can be arranged.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and lovely - we had so many questions when we arrived. They also went out of their way to make our stay as seamless as possible such as popping our bags (which we left in the storage) in our room when it was ready, extending the laundry drop off time and providing ice for when I broke my toe.

FAQs about hotels in Cusco

Timeless Inca Capital

Regarded as the oldest inhabited city of the Americas and its historical capital, none of these things are enough to describe the magic enchainment and colourful people of Cusco. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its current shape is the colonial result of building on top of many Incan sites. A good example is the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.

Must see places include the walled complex of ‘Sacsayhuamán’, and the remains of the main temple of ‘Coricancha’, dedicated to the Sun God ‘Inti’. For longer Cusco stays, hotels near ‘Plaza de Armas’ central square are ideal to fully enjoy the city. Due to its 3400-metres altitude, some Cusco hotels offer oxygen to help their guests.

Moray, supposedly an ancient experimental agricultural station, is 46 km away, while the Titicaca Lake is 390 km away. The road to Machu Picchu is the famous Inca Trail or ‘Camino Inca’, which encompasses settlements, different Andean environments, and many Incan ruins.

Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport offers several services to Lima. Arriving at Wanchaq Railway Station or ‘Terminal Terrestre de Cusco’ bus station are also popular choices. Come to visit the ancient jewel, enjoy Peru and Cusco with the hotel deals available on Booking.com!

We stayed at Casona Santa Catalina, which was near the main square, so we didn't have too much time to visit several interesting places, but we went to the Artisans Market where we found different shops with good deals on souvenirs. We ate at a Pizza place in front of the Casona, it had a delicious vegetarian pizza, and some other dishes, there was "La Concha museum" I think is where there are the artifacts found in Machu Picchu, we found the last day so we didn't have time to visit, if I had known about the interesting places Cusco has I would have spent more days there, my main point was Machu Picchu. We love the juices at the Market Place. we bought a huge round bread "Chuta" (Shuta) which is very popular a lady told us where to buy it fresh, but we didn't want to risk taking the bus or taxi, so we limited ourselves to going to nearby places. Be very careful when walking here the pedestrians don't have the right of way and the traffic lights can only be seen from the direction the cars are driving, so it is hard to know if the light is green or red in some streets in some others it even has the traditional timer. Most of the people are friendly. During August is a little cold, but one warm jacket will be enough. A friend told me to be careful with pickpocketers, avoid too crowded areas, keep your money /documents safe.

Quaint, historical, great jumping point for Machu Picchu, & seemed very safe. But the high altitude made for low oxygen and, thus, difficulty sleepy(felt like I was continuously being slightly suffocated! 😳

Cusco is a beautiful city, it is at approx 11,000 feet above sea level. i would strongly recommend u stay in the City center if your physically limited. We stayed for 3 nights before taking the train to Aguas Calientes. The HOTEL is nice, its perched up a little on the hillside, car-taxi is very limited with such small roads. If you have a disability or are elderly, IMO this hotel is not for you. Major steps up hill, could be a problem. The setting is beautiful, the sunsets and the early morning looking out at the City, the staff is GREAT, helped me with a forgotten item. OVERALL, it was a great stay in a beautiful city.

    Inca history is footsteps away.

Inca history is footsteps away. Sacsayhuaman, Q'enko, Koricancha, Tambomachay, Pukapukara, Templo de la Luna, Tipon, Rumicolca, Pikillacta, etc... and head into the sacred valley for more, ending up at Machu Picchu.. Many Museums to visit - Inca Museo, MAP, Cocoa Museo, Pachacutec, etc...The Peruvian food is exceptional. I ate at Uchu Argentinian Steak 4.9 star, Yaku 5.0 star, Fuego Burgers 4.7 star, Cafe D'Wasi (breakfast), Paddy's and Molly's Irish Taverns, Pizza del Carlos, all exceptional !!! Sunday's visit the San Pedro Market or any of the Churches.

Cusco has a beautiful city center - the older central part - with well maintained colonial buildings and churches. The air is really clean - only draw back is if you have issues with the altitude so come prepared to move a bit slower and to lose some time if so. There's a lot of things you can do nearby the city. We didn't have that much time so privileged things within the city center and still had a wonderful time. We visited the plaza Mayor which is surrounded by very well kept colonial buildings, from there you can get to the Inca museum which museum that has artifacts and information of the inca culture. I would skip if short on time, but if looking for something to do near the plaza - definetly give it a go. Also visited Qorikancha, a beautiful monastery that was built on top of an old Inca Shrine. Very nice and worth a visit. We visited the San Pedro market which is basically a market that sells everything (from meat and fruit to souvenirs) - there's also a small artisans market "Feria artesanal Marquez de San Francisco" - it's closer to the plaza de armas (near plaza San Francisco), would recommend this more if you're only looking for souvenirs. Also the food in Peru is delicious, you can find wonderful restaurants, that's always a plus. We went to a couple of restaurants in the city center and none disappointed.

the staff were so lovely and friendly. They booked a taxi for us to and from the airport. it was clean and tidy, the location was great (20 min walk from plaza de armas), it’s down the road from San Blas market so if you wanted to have an affordable lunch or breakfast that would be a fab option too! The food was tasty (especially their empanadas), the breakfast was good - especially after they added the options of having a fruit salad instead of juice! also in my option this hotel is really good value for money

A nice cosy little hotel near San Blas area and also quite close to the main square. Nice garden where the sun hits in the morning. Great helpful staff, the ladies that made us breakfast were so nice.. Breakfast was fine; white bread, egg, fresh fruits and freshly made juice. Warm beverages. Also fine rooms and almost allways hot water (runs on gas, so depends on that)
