Dundee & the surrounding area have so much to offer...
Dundee & the surrounding area have so much to offer Battlefield Tours , golf , shopping ,game reserves etc & a peaceful rural setting.
Hire a local guide ,- I was lucky to have booked a Battlefields Tour with Pat Rundgren who was funny , informative , with great local knowledge & a pleasure to spend time with.
If you can afford the time book & stay in Dundee rather than do a day trip from Durban or Johannesburg.
I enjoyed eating at The Oval restaurant - good food , you can see the cooking area , good price quick friendly service.

During the night we were in church and da time was rest time for us so we did not go place except the excellent treatment we received at the Engine garage while going home. The manager gave us a two liter soft drink for the full service we requested saying it a THANK YOU gift for the support. We normally request full service but have never received a gift for that even other Engine filling stations have never done this. Thanks to Dundee.
Bella's Rest is a gem in Dundee! Warm welcome and clear explanations from Daleen. We stayed in a suite and the bedroom and bathroom were well equipped, modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the linen fresh and crisp. Secure parking was a bonus, as was having a restaurant for dinner [extra] and breakfast [included] within the complex and approximately 200m from the accomodationon. We will certainly stay again if needing accommodation in Dundee
We stayed in a self catering cottage and id not take breakfast. The cottage was huge, really would be quite comfortable for a family (two bedrooms and two baths, large kitchen and lovely outside patio and braii).
The host did a great job of lining up a tour guide for the battlefields. The tour was excellent.
Dundee was well located for the battlefield; the Talana Museum is not to be missed.
Friendly staff and the owner (Elizabeth) is a knowledgeable source of information about Dundee and its surroundings. We stayed in the large family room, with a small patio in front of the room. Breakfast was good: a lot of variety (yoghurt, juice, different types of eggs, cornflakes and homemade bread and jam). Dinner was delicious. All in all good value for money.
Dundee is a quiet peaceful town with plenty of tranquility. It could turn out to be a tourist destination of choice if businesses think more about the needs to satisfy clients than taking for granted that because of the close proscuimity to the battlefields. Hospitality businesses should not think in a blinkered fashion but out of the box thinking.
The staff were very helpful and polite. The host even arranged 2 days accommodation for my son as his flat at the hospital where he was to work was not ready. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs accommodation in Dundee. The room size is more than adequate with all the utensils you would need. Electric blankets was also a bonus.
I arrived in the morning just before 09:00 en route to Dundee to confirm whether my booking the night before was received. I was very friendly received at Reception was even given the key to my room which was ready, even though
I only physically checked in around 15:00. Staff very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.
Thank you for the upgrade! It was unexpected and most welcome. The Mauritanian suite was clean, warm, safe and especially comfortable with all the conveniences of home. The B&B is easily accessible and central in Dundee. The vegetarian breakfast was delicious and your receptionist a delight.
I was super happy with the property. Nice property with an old charm. Very well set up and within distance to all amenities. Nice and cozy bed, with a much welcomed electric blanket for those cold nights in Dundee. Very clean. I also loved the big windows that brought in natural light
Very comfortable guesthouse on the eastern exit from Dundee. It's easy to get there, park the car. The rooms, stylized as Zulu huts, seem small from the outside, but in reality they are quite large. All amenities, there is breakfast, In general I really liked this guesthouse
The host was so accommodating and went out of her way to make my family and I settle in. It's a lovely place to spend a night or two if you are passing through Dundee. It has all the amenities you need and the rooms are modern and luxurious.
