Dhiffushi is a local island meaning people live and work there and not just designed for tourists. The transfer to and from the airport by speed boat is around 40 mins and we thought the cost was expensive. If you have 3 hours to spare there is a local ferry once most days BUT check times and dates .this ferry is VERY cheap! Our hotel was beach front to a small "bikini beach" which means bikinis ARE permitted On the public beaches they are not allowed. There were enough restaurants near by to make the eating out a good experience. If you are fit you could easily walk around the island . Snorkelling is good from the beach and even better on trips out to other reefs or coral gardens

Kaafu Dhiffushi is a small local island situated 45 minutes...

Kaafu Dhiffushi is a small local island situated 45 minutes boat ride North of Male. This is a small island with a local school, a water reservoir, an electricity maintenance centre, two football fields and houses where locals stay. There are hotels on the island with restaurants. The beaches on the island are super and it is good if you are looking for budget hotels.

Travellers should be aware of the cost of getting here from Malé airport. The ferry comes right to the airport terminal exit area and is less expensive but takes 3.5 hrs each way. It would be a great way to have a leisurely view of the northern atolls on your way if you have the time. The hotel speedboat took only 45 minutes and it was lots of fun but for 4 people it cost us close to $600 CAD round-trip including taxes and exchange, so make sure you add this to your budget. Private seaplane transfers are also available but they cost even more. There are two taxes charged by the government, which together add an additional 22% tyi your bill, so be sure to factor that in. Getting around Dhuffushi is easy. The hotel staff pick you up at the port in a golf buggy to take you the several blocks to the hotel. The entire island us 950 metres long by 240 metres wide. Looking down a laneway you can see both seashores.

A beautiful island has four gorgeous beaches and enough dining options, but polluted, the locals don't care about cleanliness, lazy and indifferent to plastic. On the ferry, I was outraged at how the locals throw their trash into the ocean.

The island was wonderful Our all days went into excursion and being in water. Can stay long with so much excursion to do, there are many beaches try all, if want to avoid crowd walk to other beach go to sandbank. Cozy cafe best near the port good taste and honest people. It wasn't overcrowded like other popular island and have much beach. Do snorkeling right on beach and more to view all over the harbor port. Try out all beaches and restaurants everyone have different offering. Recommending stay with a view so don't get bored during rains. Everyone on island is so friendly and polite. Please respect the dress code of host country and beliefs of people. The dress code is posted all over with pictures if one has language issue. Must see if want to explore local island with calm and ease. Not very far from airport and multiple speed boat at different timing contact hotel for arranging. Fishing, snorkeling, sandbank enjoyable excursions.
