Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.
Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theatre, and opposite is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archaeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.
Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.
Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, a crossroads with a fountain at each corner.
Other attractions include round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodation.
It’s a very busy place. Driving in Palermo is scary!

But restaurants are great and reasonable. The buildings are old, but charming and the mosaics in the churches are really impressive. So much history!
My favorite place was a jewel box of a bakery called Costa that served the most delicious cake.
Ate a delicious dinner at Stabile 169 restaurant.

Palermo is a wonderful city and we're definitely coming back. Easy to walk everywhere, stop and eat something, walk again. From the shore to the city, from the train station to the center, you can lose yourself in this beautiful city.

During the day we walked all over Palermo without concern.
During the day we walked all over Palermo without concern. I saw only one other person with a camera but almost everyone had a smartphone. Therefore, I put my "real" camera away and used my phone as a camera instead. At night, we joined the passeggiata on Via Maqueda where there were a lot of restaurants offering "tagliere" (antipasto severed on a wood plank, i.e. charcuterie board). There are seafood too, which we were looking for. There is plenty of opportunity for "street food" (arancini, Sfincione, spremute) in the street markets (Ballaro, Capo, Vucciria). It is one thing to expect a mix of architectural styles and another to see how a Greek temple was transformed by the Byzantines, and then by the Norman Swabians and then by the Aragonese Spanish. Layers of history, right in front of you.

Palermo is a beautiful combination of the past and present colliding into a fantastic bouquet. This area was once one you would not want to visit on holiday. However, the crime is now controlled, the young people bring their positive energy to the streets, people are kind, and the market is bustling.

Street markets were lively , full of atmosphere and character and street food was really tasty. Quite flat so easy to walk around and many attractions and places of interest within walking distance to each other.
Restaurant food was really good and reasonably priced.
Visited Mondello beach by the bus which was easy to navigate and cheap from Palermo city.
Really like the place.

It is a great place to visit, so much to see.
It is a great place to visit, so much to see.
Great seafood in the Copa market, excellent food and locally grown vegetables
We enjoyed all the cathedral and churches. We visited Izis castle, it was great to see the inside but getting there walking was not fun, there was so much trash every where and hard to walk around, the park around the castle was really in the bad shape.
I wish local people and others place their cigaret buds in the trash rather than dropping them any where, Overall the city has been ignored and so much trash on the walking area. There were so much dog popo around and it was very hard to walk around the dog droppings.
We stayed here a couple of days with our two kids. This modern first floor apartment in a typical “palazzo” is very spacious and well furnished with many details. The rooms have balconies overseeing Via Vittorio Emanuele (lively pedestrian street with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants…). The location is perfect to visit Palermo historical center on foot. The host was very helpful and did everything to make our stay to our liking and needs. We felt very welcomed. It was a perfect start of our holidays in Sicily.
Lovely boutique hotel in the middle of Palermo. The staff were wonderful and breakfast was perfect. We had a market tour and cooking class with Carlo, the hotel chef, and it was the best we have ever experienced. Linda provided the translation and helped us tremendously.
We parked our car in a garage about 1 mile from the hotel for our two night stay and walked everywhere. Definitely the way to do it!
The hotel was very clean and housekeeping did a wonderful job.
Thank you for a wonderful stay in Palermo!
This is a quality and affordable hotel. As a guest, you receive a quality room, customer service, basic hygiene products, help with learning the area, and so forth. The hotel is centrally located. There is a nearby grocery store. The hotel is not far from the Palermo Central train station, which has trains to take you throughout Sicily, Italy, and Europe. I applaud the owner for investing money in this quality hotel and offering good customer service, which is lacking in hotels throughout the world.
Staff was great, I booked last minute (same day) as was arriving late in Palermo and the hotel I had originally gave me a lot of problems with the late check in so I needed to search for another Hotel, here they give me 0 issues with the late check in and they left the keys for me on a box.
Very friendly and helpful - they gave directions of how to get to the property by train from the airport very late at night
The room is no luxury but good for the price and spacious.
We had a great stay at Casa Nostra Boutique. We found everyone on staff to be profoundly cordial and approachable. The hotel had a swanky lobby and the rooms were above average, large too.
Although I generally avoid hotel restaurants when visiting a city with as many options as Palermo, jetlag found us downstairs at Lumia Restaurant one night and it was a shockingly good. If you're in the neighborhood, just eat there regardless of your accommodations.
The apartment is like new , good quality fittings, clean and spacious , in the centre of the old town of Palermo, walking distance of everything. The elevator is a bonus in Sicily. Cristin was very professional, helpful and accommodating, she is working at the office from 9 to 1 and can arrange and explain all the things your can explore in Palermo . She also arranged a driver to leave for the airport. We recommend Ponticello apartments to anyone.
Perfect location. Easy walk to the port, Palermo Centrale train station and airport bus stop. Also, very close to all the sights and activities in Palermo.
Recommend using city buses to go to Mondello for the beach, and to Monreale for the Cathedral. Maybe a day trip via train to Cefalu, if you have the time.
Giuseppe knows Palermo and does an excellent job in running this small and highly adequate hotel. Thanks/ Merci/ Grazie, Giuseppe!
Rooms were spacious and had a fantastic balcony to sit and enjoy the best bottle of red wine we had in Sicily. The general manager (although he seemed to be receptionist, bell boy and waiter) could not have been nicer even going to nearby hotel
to get the bottle of red wine we loved as he had run out. Location is fantastic for all the tourist spots. my favourite hotel of the trip
Hard to think of something. Sicily is horrible. I have been in at least 50 or 60 countries in the world. This is only comparable with a poor 3rd world forgotten country. So sad.
Even my 5 star hotel bedroom.was smaller than my bathroom. And the whole hotel had a rancid smell. Can't they spend on some deep cleaning? Does all the money has to go to their pockets?
Nicely decorated with attention to details small boutique hotel in Palermo downtown with a sea view just like I like it.
Everything was perfect. Great service, very helpful owner, good breakfast and coffee and tea available 24h. Access to Netflix was a nice surprice:) Very spacious room made a difference in those rainy days. Very clean.
I highly recommend staying at Palermo Historia. Paolo and Giovanna are incredibly friendly and helpful. We felt very well cared for after a long journey across Sicily. The rooms are very clean, quiet, comfortable and reasonably priced. The location is wonderful, in the heart of Palermo, but without any complaint of noise.
We have traveled in many places in Sicily, and this was one of the best apartments we stayed in. Apartment was clean, big and modern. The balcony was lovely. We will most definitely come here again when next time in Palermo. One of the reasons we choose this, was that there was also a parking hall under the apartment.
Very helpful host (Filippo); clean, spacious and luminous bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast was also good.
Close to transport hubs (5min to train station for airport and 15min to train station for Cefalù).
One of the best rooms we have had during our tour of Sicily (and they were all pretty decent).
Very comfortable house. It was a pleasure to be there. Everything works well and the yard is awesome. It is about 15 to 20 minutes from Palermo. We rented a car, of course, this is not a tourist part of Sicily. Bedroom is really ok although it is the weak point of the accommodation.
A beautiful gem of a Boutique Hotel! Loved every moment that we spent there. Staff/Owners are super friendly and wonderful hosts. Excellent location in Palermo, walked everywhere! Recommended a beautiful restaurant La Galleria during our stay! Food was delicious
Amazing room. We stayed in the Valguarnera Suite which was a coincidence and very lovely touch to our last day in Italy as my wife's family is from there on the other side of Sicily. Very friendly staff and the room was huge with a beautiful bathroom.
A very nice hotel. It doesn't look as much from the outside, but once inside it is the most lovely hotel with a fantastic courtyard and pool. Great room and best of all the aircon just works - a must during the warm Sicily summer months.
Toni is a perfect and helpful Host. Communication before our arrival was perfect, He gave us many information where to go in Sicily after leaving Palermo. The apartment has very beautiful view on the cathedral. Comfy bed. Good price.
It is a great place to visit Palermo. Breakfast was the best in all Sicily. We travelled all around island and this place was the best. The host was kind and helpfull. The bed was comfortable. I recommend.
