Durres is nice to visit for the day if you’re coming from Tirana as it’s a 30 minute bus ride and only 180 lek. However, this is a case of Instagram vs reality, the photos of the beach do not measure up. Unfortunately the beach is riddled with building debris and plastic waste, making it unsafe to walk on barefoot. I would not return and would not come here for a beach holiday.
Sunsets on the beach were nice.

Durres is the largest seaport of the country and the oldest...
Durres is the largest seaport of the country and the oldest city in Albania with almost 3,000 years of history. Learning the history of this country was valuable in understanding the areas where I have been. Albania has suffered much under the cruel 40-year dictatorshp of Enver Hoxha that lasted until 1985. He was an atheist and ordered all buildings of worship to be destroyed. Thus, I have only seen a handful of churches and mosques. The Grand Mosque is located nearby and is a lovely piece of architecture. The calls to worship that come from the speakers on the minaret (pointing in all directions of the compass) are pleasant to hear even if they start at 6:00 a.m. The calls are heard 5 times a day and is a part of every day life.
There are several open air archeological sites within walking distance. Museums were closed unfortunately during my entire 14-day stay. Cafes are everywhere and offer inexpensive tasty traditional food.
It is obvious that the city is very affluent with the influx of tourism. The sidewalks in the centre are made of polished stone. English is spoken or understood in limited degrees but enough for me to be understood. When I pay for an item, I put the small change in my hand and they pick out the coins needed and are always careful to let me know what they are doing. Albanian currency is the LEK although they will accept euros at 100 LEK to 1 Euro.
Durres has been my home for two weeks and it has been a relaxing and enjoyable time.

Durres is on the one hand an exiting city, but on the other too crowded.
The traffic is terrible. High airpolution. Mentality of people different to what we are used to in Europe.
Every body is very friendly when asked for help or support, and a lot of them are speaking broken German lanuage, 90% of the young males lover 3er BMW, the older generation is more or less Mercedes-fan.
All other cars are not cars, but vehicles.
But be careful. Not all are your friends.
The females know two ways of talking only: 1. loud / 2. very loud
Beside the capital Tirana, and the big towns Durres and Shkodar, where people most live, the country is poor, but with a lovely landscape.
It takes more then 3 weeks to discover Albania and its secrets. But its worthwile, once you are retired and still fit and adventoures.

we went to the city of Durrës twice, once by city bus (but inside the bus was very crowded) and the second time we went by taxi. The city was very beautiful and we saw development constructions being done, the food was very tasty, I recommend it to others because they will find what they are looking for in their vacation

We made a visit to Durrës on the second part of October.
We made a visit to Durrës on the second part of October. The weather was still very good. (26-30°C).
The best thing in Durres was the value for money. The food is really good. The fish is super fresh/localy , and this for very low prices. The prices are 3 times lower than in Belgium.
People are very friendly but there English is not that good. The area is safe and the people are honest about their prices.
You really see that it is a country/city in development. There will be old-abandoned buildings next to new ones. And the infrastructure is old or non existing.
There are some old historical ruines in the city. But they are not cared for.
But certainly it is a nice please to visit for 1-2 days.

Beautiful hotel new and modern
Beautiful hotel new and modern
Favourite part of the hotel was the fantastic pool area, steps away from the beach.
Room was spacious and modern and very comfortable.
Food was good and varied
Having a car was a necesity as a drive into Duress is advised, we found
a beautiful resturant tucked away called Charlie Max and food was delicious.
It was a very very very nice experience, the place is so amazing, and relaxing.
The private swimming pool with sea and natural green view is so relaxing. It is a little bit away from the city, so it is very good for relaxing and meditation. I am lucky to book the villa for 2 days before going back to my home Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
It was last two days in my vacation❤️
The Owners are friendly, as we are not Albanians if we need any thing they bring to us and they take us for shopping, supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants, etc.
This was our first visit in Albania as a family and we had such a great time in Durres. We spent a day in the apartment with my husband, my daughter and two kids. The apartment host was very kind and flexible and available in any time to share information for helping us. The apartment was an excellent choice. The description provided met the reality or maybe I should say the reality exceeded the description a bit. My daughter who is an adult now had a great impression and we are thinking to spend our vacations here.
Hotel is in the center,on the beach, all rooms have a seaview.Parking,Beach umbrellas and deck chairs are includes in the room price,so as a breakfast .
Klebrido restaurant is on the beach and served very delicious food with s reasonable prices.
Hotel stuff is very kind and professional,so if you need excange money you can do it at the hotel.Prices is in Albanian lek or euros.
So hotel Klebrido is great value for the money and recommend it for family with children.
Fabulous place to stay, secluded but very close to Durres city. A family run business and they do everything they can to make your stay amazing. The food was the best we've had and the room was spotless and had everything you need with its own private garden and access to the beach. There is no WIFI but I had an Albanian SIM card and just used hotspot for the other devices. No real problem. It's very peaceful and friendly and we'll definitely like to come back.
very nice place to end our Albania-trip. the girls in the hotel are lovely and the dog, we thought about dog-napping, but…no.
Beatiful room with sea-view, nice breakfast! Best of all - superrelaxed!!!
Sunchairs across the street is free (for 2 pers) and swimming is possible. Nice sandy beach 15 minutes walk north in the little ”port”. Good sea-food at the little restaurant at the pier by the sandy beach. Would I like to come back ….. YES!
It’s the best priced place we could find. However, the apartment exceeded our expectation! The room was clean and the bed was very thick. We slept like babies.
The neighbourhood was good and close to the beach.
The family who runs the place is really kind and helpful. They did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Nothing but good word for the apartment and the family! We’ll come back next time we’re on Durres!
Super amazing hotel with the best customer service. The room was super clean and spacious with an amazing sea view & balcony. You have everything you need in the hotel.
Beautiful beach to enjoy and the sunset are spectacular.
Amazing place to stay if you are visiting Albania for a few days. Good location and very helpful staff. They can communicate in English, Italian, and French, which is very uncommon worldwide.
Highly recommended.
Most of the staff was super helpful and accommodating.
There was a younger woman at the bar who helped us get towels and had great English.
There was a younger man with good English waited on us in the restaurant twice and was very kind.
And there was an older man who was very patient with me and my very poor Albanian.
The view of the Sea was incredible.
The restaurant had great food prices and service!
Can't fault the hotel but location is squashed in between many other hotels. Sea is very cold and horrible steps down to get in. Nothing much to do in Durres, very poor country and don't think this is a good area for western tourists more of the coastal destination for Albanians. The mountain area or south coast a much better bet for holidays. We wouldn't return to Durres.
Our stay was amazing which is considered the best stay ever in Albania.
The owner is very humble and incredibly supportive also the reception staff was very friendly and helpful.
The management of the hotel is very generous for all guests’ needs.
Moreover, location, breakfast and hospitality were amazing too.
I’m really very thankful for this super hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very nice experiance. The owner was very nice older lady. Spoke english enough to comunicate. We had a private gated parking with a roof. building seemed quite new. it was 5-10 minuts walk to the main promanade and a nice beach. Albania and Durres isbaomething else. Very nice people and countr all around. will be comming back to Albanian beaches...
Very nice hotel in the heart of Durres.
The hotel is in a busy area, but the room was quiet. We had a room on the 3rd floor and the view was very nice.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is fresh and plenty.
Parking is not easy, but we found an empty spot in front of the hotel entrance eventually.
Great experience.
In this place you can feel you are in Albania Durres city. The place has its own character with special old fashion furnitures and at the roof there is teras view for all durres it is very nice place to chill and drink coffee there. Room was also very clean especially linens are smells like fresh. Bathroom is clean also.
Everything: the room (pictures on Booking show reality), staff is very professional, kind, all of them speak good english, the breakfast is faboulus! The hotel has a big, private garage and elevator.
We were on a 3-week road trip in Albania and this was far away the best hotel.
Great location, very nice and clean property. The host and his brother Leo were very responsive, , hospitable, friendly and helpful. Would be my choice again if ever I am visiting Albania and staying in Durres and will not hesitate to recommend it to others.
The hosts were super nice & went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional, even sharing some fruit from their own garden with us — true Albanian hospitality. Probably the best value you will get for your money in Durrës — highly recommend.
One of the best hostels in the Balkans. Big kitchen, huge courtyard, great view from the rooftop, plenty of bathrooms/showers and incredibly helpful/friendly staff...oh yeah, and the location is perfect. If you're staying in Durrës stay here
We liked the hotel very much. It was exceptional, the rooms were spacy and clean. The hostes were more than friendly, to help in every situation, since it was our first stay in Albania.
