A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalised in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheatre which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theatre whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which offer cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laidback and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.

Obviously very popular with tourists but for us it was not about doing the usual tourist things but just walking the streets, finding places to eat away from the main tourist hub and just taking in the atmosphere of the place...its really a great place to just hangout!

Verona is a beautiful Italian city.
Verona is a beautiful Italian city. This was my second trip and I fell in love with it all over again. It is quite small, so two to three days would be perfect. We stayed right in the heart of the old town, on Via Leoncino, which is a short walk from the delightful Piazza Bra and the Arena. Almost everything is within walking distance, and I particularly loved sitting at one of the many outdoor cafes in Piazza Bra with my aperitivo, just watching the world go by! The city is full of wonderful cafes and restaurants - the problem is 'which one to choose' but one of our top recommendations is La Taverna Di Via Stella (on Via Stella), a short walk from another delightful square, Piazza delle Erbe, where we had a wonderful meal on our last night in Verona.

A wonderful city to visit.
A wonderful city to visit. I loved the pedestrianized old town nestled in the bend of the river. So much to see and wonder at on foot - the architecture, the extraordinary Piazza Erbe, the silent duomo, the river and museums, and the stunning Roman arena. The only waste of time was Juliet's balcony, though I think we have to be impressed by the skill in having taken something fictional and turning it into a very successful tourist goldmine!
It was my first time in Verona and I loved it. Not as overwhelming as the "big 3" (Rome, Florence, Venice). Though humming in the daytime, it was relatively quiet at night and very navigable and safe - which was important for this solo female traveller.

Super stunning city.
Super stunning city. I came as a solo traveller (29F) and felt very safe. It’s a romantic city but not as overtly as I feared which was nice. Sadly it rained a lot while I was there - Verona isn’t great for rainy days as there’s so much to see from walking but I still had a good time.
Shopping was surprisingly great there - better than shopping in London. Just a nicer experience. As with everywhere in Italy, everywhere you look it’s pretty. Every street and building. Again v different to London lol.
People weren’t keen to speak to me in Italian. I don’t blame them, my Italian is terrible but they could have humoured me for like ten seconds
Will def come back - but not in Feb. This isn’t somewhere to go for crazy nights out but it’s so well connected by train - Venice, Florence, Milan… even Rome in three hours. Can imagine it’s beaut in the summer.

This is a very traditional B&B in a great location . there are only 2 rooms and we were the only ones staying there so had the place to ourselves. It was the family home however they no longer live there so was more like an Air B&B but very lovely. Breakfast is help youself to continental from the fridge and our host brought in fresh bread every morning. It would have been nice to have some fruit available with the yoghurts and cereal.
There is a lovely little roof terrace off the dining area. The bedroom was big with a comfortable bed and lovely view.the ensuite was modern with everything you need apart from a full length mirror!

This is a beautiful city in a really nice part of Italy.
This is a beautiful city in a really nice part of Italy. Verona is a 1 or 2 day break with enough to do to cover that amount of time. We bought a Verona card which meant we could visit all the sites free of charge and jump the queue which was worth its weight in gold we loved it. The city itself has beautiful buildings and piazzas and we went on Valentine’s Day during their festival which was a fantastic experience including dancing live music and other activities. We recommend doing a day trip by train to Garda, Venice, Bologna or Milan which are all within 2 hours approx and the trains from Verona station are so easy to use and cheap!
Fabulous appartment in the centre of Verona in a side street but far enough away to be quiet at night. Very near to the amphitheatre (5 mins) Very modern exceptionally clean with great pillows and a large comfortable bed. Everything provided from a small pack of washing up sponge/liquid to shower gels etc. we had a problem with our air conditioning which was quickly sorted by reception. The walk to the station is around 25 mins and very easy. We did it at 7am in the morning but Ubers are available in Italy.
I liked everything about this stay. It's lovely, large, private, on a nice street, quiet. I wish I could have stayed longer. Two nights is enough to see Verona but this would make a good base if you're seeing other cities nearby as well. I would have been happy if this were my only hotel of the trip.
Is just a 5 minutes walk to the center, Very good pizza restaurant around the block. Good shopping in Verona. Pretty city. Very nice check in man.
An absolutely beautiful apartment. Tremendous value for money with a beautiful setting only minutes walk from the heart of Verona. Arthur was absolutely incredible and I wouldn’t have seen HALF of Verona without Arthur’s advice and also his assistance with restaurants and recommendations. An amazing asset to the Lady Capulet apartments in what was my absolute favourite stay on my recent “tour” of Italy. Made the better by Arthur
The location was superior, very clean, and you can find most of what you need during your stay.
We stayed 2 nights, we spent one day in Verona and the other day in Vince . So it was a very good option to escape the cost of Vince hotels.
I would recommend the place to my friends and family who are planning to visit Italy
For 10 days traveling in Italy, this was the best place getting through the booking. I am so pleased with this place. beautiful bedroom design make me speechless. Verona it is 2 miles away you can park your car and visit beautiful city . if I come back to Verona I will make sure to rent this place again thank you
Only three positive moments were justifying my stay at this hotel:
1) Outside of ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato) it is important not to pay traffic fines for occasionally entering ZTL at the historical center of Verona.
2) Own parking under the hotel (ground floor) with secure parking.
3) Decent breakfasts.
Located in the center of Verona.
Very clean and comfortable. Have a breakfast on the terrace, it is super nice. You will receive a map with all popular places in Verona together with tips and tricks. During the whole trip in Italy this was the best place. Living room is super cool.
Beautiful property, great location for exploring Verona. Lovely room with everything you needed for a short stay. The breakfast provided is wonderful and brought to your room which is such a luxury. The host has such a pride over the hotel and the city which shows throughout.
I liked the convenience of having reception available, like a hotel, but the facilities available by having your own apartment. It was the best of both worlds.
We visit Verona almost every year and will put Opera Relais de Charme at the top of our list for a return stay
This is a beautiful little boutique hotel in Verona. Public transportation is literally outside the front door, as well as many options for food. The staff was great, the room was very nice, and the view from the balcony was gorgeous! We would definitely stay here again!
Our stay was simply outstanding! Absolutely every need was taken care of - it was better than a 5 star hotel. So many special touches to add to the comfort and make guests feel special. Trust me, you won't find better in Verona.... no matter how much you pay!
The hotel was in a prime location to the arena. There was a lot of energy and many people walking around and we loved it. The breakfast was extensive and the outdoor seating was large. Our time in Verona was our favorite of the 10 places we visited.
The hotel was perfect in every way; the best location for Verona; stunning view; beautifully newly refurbished; incredible staff; brilliant breakfast. It was better than many 5 star hotels we have stayed at at double or quadruple the price.
Quirky and fun hotel. staff outstanding in particular Matt and Roxana. Great location 10 min walk from centre and 20 min walk to bus and train station which has superb links to explore more of Italy.
Great location and such an oasis! So relaxing to get away from the crowds that we had been around the rest of that week! Beat dinner we had in Italy! Even got to give our compliments to the chef!
Location was fantastic for seeing Verona. Very clean but a bit on the small side. We had luggage as although we were only there for 2 night we were going on to other places in Italy for 10 days.
The location is excellent, only 200 meters from the Circular Theatre. The hotel is very quiet and has a rich breakfast. It is the best value for money hotel in the entire Italy trip.
Cheapest hotel in the very city center of Verona... just few minutes from the Arena. Welcoming staff, clean and the air conditioning has definitely help during the torrid night.
The welcome by our host to a beautiful apartment in lovely Verona. We will recommend visiting Verona and this apartment to all our friends visiting Italy.
