We liked the relaxed bar area where we could sit with our pets.
An important harbour for centuries, Portsmouth counts with one of the busiest ferry piers in the United Kingdom, has the oldest dry dock still in use in the world. Its Historic Dockyard is home to famous British ships like Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior.
In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. In Old Portsmouth is possible to find smaller hotels, B&B’s and guest houses, some of them not far from the ferry harbour.
The Gunwharf Quays are a modernly renovated shopping area, home to the Spinnaker Tower, while the centre has an ever-growing number of shops. Don’t miss Commercial Road and the Cascades Shopping Centre. Hotels in Portsmouth’s city centre allow you to be close to everything what the city has to offer.
For relaxing moments, Portsdown Hill allows panoramic views over the city and the Isle of Wight. During summer, its sandy beaches are a must.

I was taken to a show at the Kings Theatre , wonderful place, very old and beautiful, worth a visit to Southsea. Its my local decent shopping place to go or Southampton as I live across the Solant. My favourite eating place, Cafe Rouge have, in their wisdom, 'closed shop' unexpectantly!!!!!!

I have lived near Portsmouth for years, so have done most things there. It's definitely worth a trip if you've not been there before. Historic Dock yard and ship's, the fair, lots of pubs and restaurants, beach, gunwarf keys. My trip this time was just for a party though. 1 night and a lovely Sunday roast the next day. The shepherd's crook short walk from ibis budget hotel. Taxis no problem, £7.00 from Portsmouth Central to hotel.

Too much traffic, parking was terrible
Accommodation. 12.Elphinstone Road was not like the advertised picture and you couldn't get a refund when asked, the male dealing with bookings was so rude, no fire door in the kitchen, no central heating only heater sparked when switched on and off, bedding was soiled with blood

Portsmouth is my hometown and has many attractions which are well worth visiting. There are some lovely naval buildings and other historic sites. Too many to list here. The old naval presence is all pervading and the seafront stretches for miles.
Having said that it has deteriorated in some aspects - far too many immigrants and homeless people; parts of the city are run-down and the cleanhliness of the roads and pavements needs attention. I suppose, in many ways that is the fate of the large cities throughout the world but I hate to see it on my own doorstep.
The Government should do away with foreign aid - provide emergency relief as needed - stop giving money to Ukraine and
drop all this 'Green and net zero 'nonsense. Spend money on our own people.

Portsmouth has fantastic shopping and an amazing choice of restaurants. The Mary Rose exhibition should not be missed . You can take great boat tours around the port and even skip over to the Isle of Wight on a day trip
A lovely little hotel in a great location and on a super cute street in Portsmouth, walking distance to gunwharf was 5-10 mins max. The room was a great size, had tea/coffee etc, nice and clean - felt like such a great find and a brilliant price compared to the big chain hotels. Would definitely book again. Staff were lovely and friendly. We managed to park right outside the door. Could not fault anything.
Apparently I had the biggest room in the hotel. It was totally awesome for the price--absolute luxury. An added bonus for an extended stay is a full kitchen to use, and a nice living room to socialize. There was a problem with my fob key but not only did the manager contact me but he made the kind and generous offer to refund 20.00 £ as a courtesy. The staff are very kind.
Location on arrival looked a bit busy and we thought it would be noisy. Wrong. You could hear no noise from the busy road outside or from the pub. Room was comfortable. We didn't book breakfast but could have had it. Our friends did. It looked fabulous and was great value for money. We've actually booked again for another stay when sailing from Portsmouth.
The room, family size, was spacious, comfortable with a truly wonderful view and a very large window. It made staying in the room feel like a treat.
The restaurant was exceptionally good. There are many options for food in the vicinity, but the best we found was the hotel itself. The Captain's Table is a good one indeed. Nice room too.
modern, clean, comfortable and a great breakfast. we only arrived at about 18.30 after flying back to England then a coach journey back to Portsmouth to get our car so I booked the hotel rather than a 6 hour drive after traveling all day, it was a short visit but we would definitely stay here if we come to Portsmouth again.
Everything was perfect. We were sad that the jacuzzi was broken but thoroughly enjoyed the pool. It was clean with warm relaxing water. Just what we needed after an overnight flight from the US, jet lag and miles of walking in Portsmouth Harbor. We were so relaxed as we ate our dinner in the bar area!!
Perfect location for our one night stay in Portsmouth. We walked home quickly after a day of shopping at Gunwharf quays and then took the catamaran to isle of wight the next day from Portsmouth Harbour. The apartment was large and comfy. We used the kitchen for dinner.
The staff at the hotel were all very polite and tried to resolve any quires. The hotel is very central, therefore it is easy to get around on foot. The university car park is just opposite the Ibis hotel and has plenty of room and much cheaper than the Ibis car park.
Pretty central and close to Portsmouth Harbour train station. Close to entertainment area Gun Wharf and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, all within a few minutes walk. A small hotel above a pub, with good pub food. Room rate was reasonable for this time of year.
Good room with all the facilities you would expect - TV, tea/coffee etc.
Excellent location - very near Portsmouth Harbour Train Station, Gunwharf Quays and the Historic Dockyard.
Large range of options for breakfast - both continental and cooked.
it’s was a great little hotel. the location was perfect for Portsmouth historic dockyard and gunwharf quays shopping centre.
the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. would recommend a stay here.
The hotel is in a good location for Southsea and Portsmouth. You can walk to most places or there are local buses close by. Breakfast is good and very well organised. The children really enjoyed the swimming pool.
Everything the location is brilliant the hotel was clean and staff were very friendly we will be coming back in November for a couple of days well done holiday inn Portsmouth harbour
very convenient location, used the local park and ride to get into city centre where it was just a short walk to Portsmouth harbour, railway station and boutique shops
The Hotel is close to the seafront and thus in walking distance to both Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour.
Breakfast was very good and almost everything available.
Well presented hotel with friendly helpful staff and food was good. In the right spot to walk to most locations in Portsmouth town centre and the Gunwharf
