St Austell is a great base to explore Cornwall.
St Austell is a great base to explore Cornwall. The town isn't fantastic, but it's 5 minutes from the Eden Project, also 5 minutes to Charlestown , an historic and interesting harbour, Mevagissey is very near, and it's near to several beaches.

Many interesting places to visit.
Many interesting places to visit. Lovely coastline with quaint villages. Mevagissey, Fowey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden project are must sees! I shopped in St Austell itself. A good variety of shops, in interesting streets and lanes.

Ours was a short stay so spent most of the time travelling around the area including a boat trip to Falmouth. We enjoyed a 'eat as much as you like' chinese meal at the Water Margin restaurent in St Austell. The service and quality of menu was excellent. Recommended.

the people are very friendly.the scenery is amazing and carlyon bay and charlestown are amazing.we chose to eat in the hotel because the food is fresh cooked and excellent.we dont drive so we used cabs which were a reasonable price.lots of places inreasonable walking distance.in my opinion there were no places or things to avoid.

We walked to Carlyon Bay for a beach day and found places to eat close by in Charlestown and Mevagissey. The hotel is stylish and welcoming with a choice of places to relax indoor and outdoors. Their cream tea and breakfasts were amazing! Also, there were lovely touches like a bag hung on our door every morning with homemade muffins for a pre breakfast treat.

Rather a bizarre configuration because it comprised various parts of an old house, but very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially accommodating our having breakfast in a separate room as we weren't feeling terribly well. The grounds were lovely, too. A lot of thought and work has been put into this hotel.
