I lived on the condado for 5 years from 1972-1977, while my Dad was stationed in Old San Juan.
It was exactly how I remembered it, beautiful people, beautiful weather, beautiful city, beautiful beaches... but just a little more built up. I've been to Turks and Caicos, Bermuda, and the Bahamas (more than once) and they are all beautiful!
But San Juan/PR in general has so much more to offer with regards to history, tours, adventure, shopping, or relaxation for ALL ages!!

Old San Juan is beautiful; however, over run with tourist.
Old San Juan is beautiful; however, over run with tourist. We were warned of "creative driving" -- yup, have to agree. Finding parking is near impossible. Streets are narrow. Found some great beaches. Delicious seafood.

Enjoyed San Juan. Touring the old Castillo's. We found a lovely restaurant in Old San Juan. We went snorkeling in Escambron beach. Pleasant relaxing trip. A gentle breeze kept things from getting too hot. Rain sometimes. Wonderful walking area on the Castillo and shore.

Highlight of my stay at Hotel de Mar was being able to get a good walk on the beach across the street before getting a connecting flight the next day. I would return to this location. I did not need to get a meal and brought my own food for breakfast. I might avoid arriving in the dark next time late at night, but that is when my flight arrived and I found Hotel de Mar to be a wonderful place to stay.

Though we liked where we stayed, we would have been better staying in old san Juan. We did not rent a car and since not see the need, as you can Uber or taxi around. Parking not an easy task, thought thetebwas a large parking lot where we were dropped off. We really did not see the need for a car at all. Loved walking lots of interesti6 history there.
Spent the whole day at dirt and castle and then a delicious meal at a whole in the wall restaurant Rincon de paco. Lots of things to do there. We xoukd have spent a few more days around. Bought candy by the Portland enjoy the sunny day. Just make sure ti have comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen and a hat.

Have been to San Juan before. Very nice city and old town.
Have been to San Juan before. Very nice city and old town. Would be glad to go back, but not to the hotel we stayed in, the AC Condado hotel, which is a total rip off. So, try to book in the old town.
Loved the open bar and friendly atmosphere (from those employed at the hotel and other guests). My room was better than I expected. I anticipate they have to do a lot to maintain the rooms and it showed— looked like new paint and bathroom updates.
The rooftop was also excellent. It was a great view of San Cristóbal and a great place to catch some more sun. The location also exceeded my expectations- perfect walking distance to everything in Old San Juan. Also LOVED that this place was adults only.
If you are looking for a Marriott or Motel 8, keep looking because this won’t be a good fit for you. But if you enjoy a Funky, fun, open air, unique experience this place is excellent. It’s the true Old San Juan experience. We loved our cupola for the natural light, breeze, and awaking to the coos of doves. If you are brave enough, climb the stairs to the fantastic view of the city. We utilized the kitchen down the hall which was more than sufficient. Oscar and Eddie took good care of us.
We were thrilled by our stay at Andalucia. We decided to come here last minute after a bad experience in another hotel nearby. Roberto was such an amazing host, making us feel home, giving such good recommendations. The pictures don’t do justice. The place is amazing, clear, charming and excellente location between the beach, coffee shops, restaurants, bars and a 10 min ride to old San Juan with cheap ubers. Thank you again for our stay Roberto. We ll 100% come back!
Beautiful old hotel! The room was spacious (queen room with bay view). The hotel has several restaurants, a beautiful pool deck and many areas to sit and relax in the middle of the hot day. The air-conditioner in the room was ice cold and appreciated on a hot day. I love the double doors opening to the bay view, we could also see the pool from our room which was really nice (Room 501). The location could not be better if you want to be in Old San Juan!
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean and comfortable. I'm picky to a fault with bed and pillow comfortability and this place was perfect in that regard, very comfortable there. Honestly one of the best I've had. The best part though was the location of the hotel itself - absolutely perfect and within close walking distance to everything important to see and do in old San Juan.
I LOVED the location of this property. It is right on the beach. Waking up and taking a walk on the beach was my favorite thing! It’s a bit run down, elevator was scary to go but there are stairs, and the ac wasn’t working well so we had to open up the windows manually. Overall, stay here for the location! It’s near so much, the grocery store across the street and restaurants can’t be beat!
- great location near a ton of restaurants (and fine to uber to Old San Juan etc for activities, or walkable to hotels nearby that are usually pick up/drop off for tours)
- no keys to worry about losing or deactivating, just access codes for the doors
- they let me use a quick shower after check out since I had a water activity in the morning and then had to head to a flight
Villa Herencia boasts a perfect location, nestled in the heart of San Juan yet tucked away in a serene spot. The hotel's service and charm were truly exceptional, immersing us in the authentic essence of Puerto Rico as we felt like we were staying in a typical, historic villa right in San Juan. It was an unforgettable experience!
This hotel located right at the airport and is very convenient option if you arrive to San Juan at the middle of the night. Convenient check out time at 12 noon gave us a plenty of time to rest after our flight. Room was on a smaller side, but clean and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was fast and straight to the point.
Loved the location, easy to get to the beach and a lot of great restaurants nearby. The hotel itself was very modern and clean and had a shared kitchen space and also provided beach towels and sunscreens. The room was perfect for our stay and they even offered us a free parking space. I really enjoyed the stay!!
Best value we have found in San Juan where we have stayed numerous times and where hotels are generally overpriced and poor. This is the best of its type we have found. Dont be put off by the 3 star rating, This is better than any so called4 star we have stayed at in San Juan. Great overnight hotel.
The location is terrific, a smaller hotel right on the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful despite it being a kind of crazy time (New Years). In general the room was excellent with a great view. We ate a couple times at the restaurant and the was well prepared and delicious. See photo of views.
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your hotel. I will write a positive review and share my experience with friends and family so they may visit the Caribe one day. My favorite part of the Caribe hotel was the view from our balcony. The view was breathtaking, amazing, and overall beautiful.
Was moved to a different hotel due to over booking. Other hotel had no electricity upon arrival and was not given a eta of power coning back on. After traveling all day we had no way to recharge. Had to book another hotel and wasnt allowed to talk to management about refund.
So convenient, literally a couple minutes walk from the departures section of the airport. Everything was very clean. Staff were super helpful! Just remember it is an airport hotel, so nothing fancy - it does what it intends to do. Free breakfast from 5am-9am was helpful!
The hotel was clean and comfortable. Bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loves the shuttle to Old San Juan. It is really close to the Pan Am Pier.
