We only visited the Supermarket as we had a Marie function just out of Hastings. We were there most of the weekend. It was beginning to rain when we all left and rained all the way to Gisborne. This was a visit for a whānau gathering, so my itinerary was pretty much planned before I arrived. I know Hastings well and there are many great things to keep you busy and entertained if you choose to holiday here. If you are coming to Hastings then a stay at Portmans is a great choice. This is a lovely friendly town and region.
This is a lovely friendly town and region. I’ve traveled here yearly with work and holiday for several decades. Even a week or so after the Feb 2023 cyclone slammed this town it was back up and running for visitors. I was in Hastings to participate in an early morning fundraising activity so I was focused on accommodation, food, ease of getting to the fundraising site and buying seasonal fruit. Got seasonal fruit on Sunday as they would not be open on the stat holiday on Monday. Accommodation is good - cheap, well maintained, central location Food - Could not find a restaurant so got take aways Asked at large supermarket in Hastings for location of Flaxmere Park - staff discussion between 5 people resulted in none of them having heard of it.LizzNew Zealand

Well appointed rooms, friendly staff.
