Millstatt is a very nice area.
Millstatt is a very nice area. I think especially in summer it is nice. In winter (which is when we were there) it is not so crowded. The location is well situated between several ski area's all within 20-40 min driving distanceHHolgerNetherlands - 6.0Scored 6.0
Millstatt is a quaint town with direct access to the lake.
Millstatt is a quaint town with direct access to the lake. It's most likely suited to families due to the amount of children that are present at the lakeside bathing areas. If you enjoy hiking, then it's a great place to start from; only 30 mins drive (sometimes on toll roads) to the base of a few mountains. The town has the amenities you need, such as a supermarket and a few restaurants, but not a lot more. There are very few bars if you would like to go for a drink in the evening, so make sure you head to the supermarket earlier in the day! In addition, the town feels slightly overcrowded in the summer months, so you need to make sure that you reserve your table for dinner a day or two ahead; there are also few places that could accommodate us on a walk-in basis. In summary, a great town, but lacking in the required facilities.

Perfect location for families.
Perfect location for families. The lake is fabulous, super clean water, nice beaches (approx. 3 - 4 EUR). Less tourists than at Ossiacher See where we planned to go originally. Many possibilities in close surronding especially with Karten card. Highly recommended!!!!

A enchanting lake with lovely surroundings, easy to reach from The main motorway to and from Salzburg. Good choice of Accommodation for all pockets. Besides a variety of eating experiences and cultural events. Best visited in summer and early autumn to maximise the excellent facilities and areas to visit.

Great place for a relaxing holiday. The lake offers several beautiful beaches and places to swim. Water is clean and lucid. In the surroundings of lake you can also rided around by bike, boat rides and hikers can walk around on foot.

Beautiful little town. Nice public swimming area, very friendly staff on the boats as well as in the restaurants and public facilities, etc. Beautiful Abbey with an interesting art exhibition. You reach fantastic hiking destinations in the shortest time by car.RitaEAustria

Better to stay here above the lake than on the crowded and overpriced shore. The lake, the Nockberge biosphere park, Gurktal, Maltatal are easily accessible by car and there are walks up to Lammersdorfer Alm from the hotel. The owner is very helpful, though you note that you can only communicate with her in German and you need to pay in cash.

Large terrace for sunbathing and garden. Parking is easy. Franziska, the host, is very hospitable and kind. Thank you! We spent unforgettable New Year holidays in Energie Oase and hope to be back to Millstatt in other seasons and to stay in this apartment.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The owner called the restaurant across the street and got us a table. The restaurant was very good and we had a wonderful meal next to the lake.
