Great location and very friendly obliging staff.
I enjoyed having a Harbour view room although lots of street noise but to be expected and not an issue for sleeping.
I would definitely stay here again.

The view is as good as it gets. You actually have to close your patio door at night because the wind can kick up and the waves can get loud. I loved it though.
Despite having a very well stocked kitchen, you still have a bar fridge in your room.
Plenty of desk space to work with.

Loved the old city...however, construction was taking place which made getting around by car a little confusing. Loved walking around the waterfront and seeing the famous marina as well as the artwork created by mariners. Shopping in the local stores was a good experience with prices that you don't feel taken advantage of. Shopping in the city's Mercado was also a nice experience. Trying new restaurants around the city was also a good experience. While there, rent a car...best way to get around as public transportation is not regular or abundant. Also, try to visit the neighboring island of Pico on the ferry and spend a few days there...lots to see.

Island more quiet than Sao Miguel, felt more centered around the sea. A good mix of sea and land. A few good walks along the shore or around a caldera or inland. Unusual landscapes. The roads are very good compared to Sao Miguel.

We have now visited Horta 13 times in eight years, and will continue to visit in coming months/years. For a small city in the middle of the North Atlantic, Horta has a very welcoming feel, and is an ideal base for people wanting to visit the central group of Azorean Islands.
It's easy to walk around, and the rest of the island of Faial is accessible through day tours, e.g. with Azores Experiences who we would highly recommend. There are whale and dolphin watching trips from March - October, together with walking tours, Caldeira descent (which requires a formal guide and cannot be done alone), and a visit to the volcano and interpretation centre at Capelinhos is a must.
There are a good number of excellent restaurants (Atletico, Medalhas, Genuino, Taberna do Pim, etc.) and the Oceanic bar and restaurant (their barbecue is superb) to try locally caught fish and local beef. For a good value breakfast or lunch, there are plenty of small cafes (e.g. Cafe Silva, behind Peter's Cafe) which offer great hospitality.
If the weather is good and you fancy a relaxing day, there is also the beach at Porto Pim, which is used regularly by visitors and locals alike.

Nice little layd back town with astounding views of the islands Faial and Pico with their different and mystifying volcanoes, over the ever present calming ocean sights and sounds. Friendly locals serve all kinds of traditional and popular dishes and snacks, and offer quality lodging depending on your wishes and wallet. With a rental car, taxi or public transport it's easy to visit interesting geological, natural and cultural locations spread around the island. There is a lot of time and space there to come to yourself or interact with the local community.

Thelma and Carlos were very helpful
Thelma and Carlos were very helpful
The accommodation was spotless. Thelma brought us fruit and tomatoes from her garden. The room was large and kitchen well equipped. There was a lot of rain when we visited and it was cold but Thelma provided thick blankets.
Superb location, very clean, well equipped. As new but we were told it is 3 years old.
It has A/C which we used in the warm setting to warm and dry out after a spring rainy day. It never gets too hot but this feature is essential to help with the humidity of these islands. Out of 4 places we stayed in the Azores, it was the only one with A/C, and a blessing. It did not smell as humidity either, as most houses/flats do. Definitely our most comfortable stay in the Azores. Good mattress as well.
A wonderful place to stay right in the middle of downtown Horta that I can’t recommend enough. Our room had a beautiful view of Mt. Pico and we probably had the best sleep of the trip here. Elena is amazingly helpful and was accommodating to our late arrival due to flight issues and gave us a long list of recommendations in the city. She also scheduled our taxis to and from the airport which made logistics considerably easier. If we ever make it back this is where we will stay.
I cook. I cook tasty (It is not just my opinion:). Usually I do not like hotel meal. I am a little evil snob when I speak about meals. But... Steaks, burgers, sandwiches, salads - absolutely all I ate was great. Yes there is more snacks than meals but it is tasty. Big confortable apartments, amazing ocean view, superb Owner (with the capital letter), a lot of scenic views near, about 20 min to Horta on foot. It is very local place. Islanders love it, and I can see why.
A very beautiful house, full of light, welcoming, clean and full of comfort. Kitchen equipped with quality accessories. Very kind and helpful owners. Large and very clean bathroom, filled with towels and with two soft beach towels. Comfortable beds, quiet rooms. Excellent location, in the heart of Horta and a stone's throw from one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. the best way to visit the island!
I stayed here for a very short stay, for a medical appointment. The apartment was very clean, with a beautiful view, and all the facilities i needed. I loved how quiet the place is at night for getting a good nights sleep, which is hard to find in Horta. Great breakfast and delicious cake. I arrived early but quickly got checked in. Will definitely consider staying here again 😁
The hotel is located inside Horta fortress, an amazing location. It is right in the city centre on the main street overlooking the harbour and Pico island with the volcano. It has a nice swimming pool with the same view. There are some parking spots in front of the hotel.
This hotel sits above the Horta marina, from it you can have a clear view of Pico Island. (if you are on one of the rooms facing the ocean). Everything was wonderful.
During Breakfast the staff always made sure that we had enough to eat.
Filipa's and Vitório's place is a real gem! If you are looking for a little paradise in the Azores, stay with them! They are fantastic hosts and could not do a better job. We simply loved it and would come back any time!!!💛💛💛
Nicely arranged room space, vast shared kitchen space, terrace facing the ocean, helpful staff. It is actually a hotel with dorms available, not a hostel. All facilities are well maintained and clean
Centrally located in Horta, a walk away from harbor and ferry terminal. Great views to Pico.
Most comfortable beds of the Açores.
No need to rent a car, you can take a guided Taxi Tour for 80 €
Afonso was very welcoming and always available to help. The house is close to Horta town by car and from natural swimming pools. It has an amazing garden! The rooms are big with private bathrooms.
Amazing view over Horta and Pico. Half about walk to the city at the Marina and 5 minute taxi drive. Yvette is very friendly and adaptive to your needs. We had a wonderful stay here.
Delicious breakfast, very profesional staff, amazing room, very good location. We liked the hotel so much that we will stay with them also in Terceira. Thank you for everything!
Everything about the hotel and location was perfect. It was exciting to be in a "former" fort with walls and cannons around. I would definitely recommend staying here.
The location of this charming apartment can not be beat. Located in the Porto Pim Bay Area of Horta is a perfect place to enjoy Horta and everything magical on Faial.
