Edward Hotel, hotel in Gloucester

The Edward Hotel is a just 10-minute walk from Gloucester Cathedral and Gloucester Train Station.

The Edward hotel was a very homely environment with friendly helpful staff. The room was on the ground floor as requested . It was spacious with its own small en-suite. The room was by the side entrance which lead out to the garden , and also into the dinning area where breakfast was served. The hotel did not have a restaurant as such but it did have a microwave and a small fridge in the room. This was not a problem for us as there are plenty of restaurants and pubs within the town centre. The hotel was clean and you do not get disturbed with room service and cleaning. The hotel issues you with a key to which you let you self in with at the front door or side entrance which also opens your room door. It also had a bottle opener on the key ring which was a nice touch. The hotel was centrel to the city centre and the areas where you can visit such as the cathedral and venues for weddings and parties. Lovely little hotel which we would stay in again. Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see.

Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see. Good transport links to other towns - Worcester and Tewkesbury. Docks area is attractive with restaurants, bars etc. and the area around the cathedral has some nice shops, tea rooms etc.

It’s very easy to reach Gloucester from the hotel especially if you like shopping at the Gloucester Quays. Found it very handy to get to Stroud and Painswick as well and the M5 motorway. I personally wouldn’t use the bistro pub for meals at the Gloucester quays- the high orchard. Microwave meals with the wrong prices still in the menus and bar staff manager who couldn’t give a toss. Cheltenham is nice to eat in if you fancy a day out and lots of dog friendly places too.

We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.

Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place

Location perfect , central to city . Staff very friendly. Adjoining bar lively , very pretty courtyard area . Rooms and halls a little tired and dated is all but very clean. ( we had a large triple room with 3 singles ) Loud at the alley side in the early morning due to deliverys of other shops etc but expected as city centre . Recommend parking at kingswalk as hotel is literally alongside this . Plus its cheap with a reasonable checkout time of 11am. Will return.

Our room was dated but very clean, the common parts not so clean but staff reacted quickly to spillages etc. The main plus for this Hotel is that the staff were very helpful and accomodating. There was a great atomosphere in the bar after the Gloucester/Bath Rugby match. I would recommend for a one or two night stay. The Hotel is only a few minutes walk from the Quays.

Lovely surroundings. The hotel was really clean in public areas and room. Extremely comfortable environment. Bedroom had great facilities, was spotlessly clean with everything you may need including plenty of sockets and USB points. Holiday Inn never fails to disappoint. Much better than the other Gloucester hotels and near to the City, Cheltenham and the M5.

Freshly cooked evening meal on arrival and breakfasts were very good, although choice was limited. Hotel is handy for visiting Gloucester cathedral and docks, as well for the forest of Dean for hiking and cycling. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's possible to walk into Gloucester via the riverside paths, just under 2 miles

Very happy with the facilities, check in and location of the hotel. Did the job for an overnight stay to see Gloucester RFC at Kingsholm, walking distance to the ground! Very clean room, a fridge and other amenities made my stay simple, easy and great value for money. Many thanks to all the staff there.
