Well not so much ilminster itself as a head to place but the area in General has much to offer and not just Meusems or Churches
We visited Cheddar Gorge and other nearbye Towns and seaside Villages, visiting some Great Brocant's where it's hard to say no to that additional piece of clutter.

We chose Ilminster as it was fairly close to the M5 but not too far from Lyme Regis, where we were visiting the following day. We didn't spend time in Ilminster, just used the hotel as a overnight stop, but it looked characterful and was a great location to other attractions, including Lyme Regis.

Lovely central location so you can go to Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Sidmouth, Taunton and Wells in approximately an hour or under. Ilminster is a small town, with a large Tesco and other small shops for all you needs. Friendly locals and plenty of places to visit for all the family. Highly recommended for a perfect getaway.

Ilminster is quite a small place, but has some nice pubs and restaurants, and there is beautiful countryside around it. Close to Yeovil and Glastonbury, less than one hour drive from Exeter, and some nice National Trust places close by to visit.
We enjoyed every minute in this well appointed B&B. The gardens are lovely, and our room on the ground floor was unique and very comfortable. It included a king size bed and a free standing bath tub and separate shower. There is a hot tub on the property and outdoor areas to relax. The owner prepares an amazing breakfast to order. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed during our travels.
Convenient, comfortable, affordable one-night stop off en route to Cornwall, disappointed to find a Hotel does not provide an evening meal on a Sunday.
Having stayed previously and enjoyed the restaurant it was a great disappointment to have to seek an evening meal elsewhere.
I find it amazing that an establishment can class itself a hotel yet not provide an evening meal !!
I liked my room which was very comfortable and had a large television and good wifi. The breakfast was excellent and the dinner the night before was first class. The dining room was warm and cosy and Christmassy. The service from the staff was great. I believe that the view from the hotel is beautiful and it is close to Ilminster which is a delightful little town.
Lovely location and excellent host. Had breakfast and evening meals and food and service were very good .
Room had large comfortable bed and facilities were very good with both bath and separate shower .
What more can we say .. would recommend The Flying Fish for anyone who wants a good value stay in lovely south Somerset countryside.
It's great to have the 'lounge' area. Family can come and visit anytime. The breakfast is fine and if you wanted a ready meal, there is a microwave. The hosts are lovely! Great place for a couple of nights. The bathroom is lovely, great shower! Quiet and cosy and warm, even in the winter. Space to park etc.
Contrasting with "upmarket" chain hotels I've stayed in recently it was great - the TV was an ACTUAL smart TV which was NOT the case in a Voco or a holiday Inn express. The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant belonging to the property serves first class cuisine and reasonably priced
Very friendly pub which is always busy but you are guaranteed a friendly welcome.
Rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable.
The restaurant is similarly busy but you don’t mind when the food is as good as this!
Already looking forward to my next trip down to Somerset!
The location was beautiful. A lovely historic house set in acres of parkland. Plenty of walks and use of the garden. Our room was at the back of the hotel which overlooked the gardens and parkland. Lovely. Good sized and very comfortable double bed. Staff were pleasant.
Really nice stay at this lovely hotel.
Lots of free parking and good links to the motorway.
My room was large clean and very comfortable and the walk in shower was a great addition.
Evening meal was excellent so was the breakfast.
A very nice stay indeed.
Great location in a quiet little town, ideal central point for Somerset, we had a wedding nearby, much better than staying in a hotel room, book the whole house instead ah.. Comfortable beds, great quality towels, very spacious.. Would hire again.
Lovely converted country cider barn. Nicely kitted out in all of the living areas with lots of kitchen stuff and plush cushions. Host is nice and friendly. Cute baby chicks in outbuilding!!
Ilminster is a lovely little town off the A303 and the hotel lies on the edge of town. A small but excellent menu in very comfortable surroundings. I would return here, no question.
Hotel located in an exceptionally pretty village. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with great attention to detail. The bed was very comfortable. It was quiet and we slept well.
Lots of space with all the facilities, very comfortable bed and plenty food in the fridge. Good location for travelling around Somerset and close to Ilminster.
