No review to write as they cancelled my booking saying that there was a problem with the room. A friend was also looking to book and noticed that they were advertising rooms available. This was during Cheltenham so I suspect that they cancelled as they thought they could get more money for the room! There was no compassion from them, as it was last minute I could only find a Travel Lodge

There are a lot of independent shops and antique emporiums to browse around as well as some High Street names. Lots of cafes to sample too. There were some interesting restaurants but far too many were Indian for the size of town. Great if you love Indian food but not so good if you are looking for variety. The river is a pretty attraction and being able to walk along its banks is lovely. Boat trips are available during the summer. The marina is very attractive and has some lovely pubs in which to pass some relaxing time. The Black Bear pub is well worth a visit and has been fully refurbished recently (2024).

The wide variation of carpets upstairs looked like an Arab Souk. Parking was adequate at the back of the premises. Great atmosphere as a commercial pub near a famous Racecourse (Cheltenham) but the staff training towards visiting guests needs quite a bit of work !!

The Abby was worth seeing and the walk along the river and on the battlefield trail were nice. Also there is a large field or park that is between the rivers where you can get in a nice couple of miles walking. The town had some very nice restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries. We enjoyed our visit very much.

A lovely quaint town. The people are friendly. We enjoyed the craft market on Sunday. The river side is beautiful. The Abbey is breathtaking. Shame is it closed now for a few weeks. There are a few places to eat well.

Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was delicious and a large choice from bar or restaurant. Grounds were amazing. Rooms were a little dated. There was hanging space in the room a rail with no door. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Hairdryer and iron were also in the room. Towels were large, soft and very white in bathroom and pool area. Overall a lovely spa stay. Spirits were overpriced but pints of cider or beer were as expected. We didn't actually go into the town as we were only staying 1 night . Already booked another spa treatment so will be returning soon.

We thought this was our best stay of several years of staying with booking.com hotels. Joan, our host, was so welcoming, attentive and helpful ... Jessop house is modern, wonderfully modernised within interesting 400 year old walls ... all within the 1000 year history of Tewkesbury (The Abbey is opposite Jessop house - good views). Wonderful bathroom - generous hot water - perfect WiFi (booster provided) - personal choice of breakfast - good qualities, great variety. Thank you so much.

We had a room at the back of the property and it was really quiet at night. It was close enough to town centre so we could walk after arriving. Was grateful to have breakfast early (at 7am) as we had to leave early. There is a a car park at the rear of the property. A bonus is having an Italian restaurant on site (separate from the hotel), which was great to have coffee and tiramisu when we arrived after our long journey.

Liked having a room on the first floor at the back where it was quiet. Had a nice big bath in the bathroom. Booked again for the Thursday night of the same week because I enjoyed it so much. However, was given a room on the second floor overlooking the High Street (so couldn't open the window because of noise) with no bath. Same price I believe. This was very disappointing. However, overall the hotel is very nice.

River Cottage was an absolute delight to stay in. It was only a few minutes walk into the town centre which had an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants on offer. Tewkesbury was a lovely place to visit and very dog friendly. The Cottage was very comfortable and the hosts had left us milk, bread and a selection of local goodies. It was very well equipped with all we needed to enjoy our stay.

We were attending the annual medieval festival in Tewkesbury. This little house was perfectly located, close to town centre bus stops and a comfortable walk from the festival site, as well as the Abbey. The house is well fitted out with much care, it's compact and comfortable. It helped make our stay very enjoyable.

excellent location for exploring the Tewkesbury area. The couple who own it have a great eye for furnishings as the whole property has a touch of class about it. Easy access and process for leaving. would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area. We will definitely use this property again.

The staff were very helpful and the food and drink were all very good. A very central location in the town centre. A car park behind the pub was free if you stay in the hotel. A large pub garden for those that enjoy being outside.
