A lively, bustling area with plenty to go for eating and shopping. It is less urban than Salvador but still very densely populated and active with everything you need close by. I felt safe, especially during the day. I didn't go out at night as much, so I can't comment on that. We finally got to the beach that is nice but extra trash laying around very smelly and unhealthy..... several people tried to bump me while shopping to try to get into my fanny pack. We are still in town but I do not ever feel safe here.

He picked me up and dropped me off from/to the airport and took me to the metro stop so I could visit the historic city. The pousada is located in a quit neighbourhood, close to the beach.
