Kotor, located on the Adriatic coast in Montenegro, is a gem...
Kotor, located on the Adriatic coast in Montenegro, is a gem of a city known for its medieval charm, stunning landscapes, and rich cultural heritage.
Nestled between the Bay of Kotor and towering mountains, the scenery in and around Kotor is nothing short of spectacular. The bay, often compared to a fjord, creates a stunning backdrop for the city. The hike up to the fortress atop the mountain offers panoramic views that are well worth the effort.
Kotor's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it's easy to see why. The city is surrounded by well-preserved medieval walls, and its narrow, winding streets are filled with historic buildings, churches, and charming squares. The Cathedral of Saint Tryphon and the Maritime Museum are must-visit landmarks.
The city's waterfront promenade along the Bay of Kotor is a delightful place to take a leisurely stroll. The views of the bay, with mountains rising dramatically from the water, create a picturesque setting. Waterfront cafes and restaurants offer a perfect spot to enjoy the scenery.
Kotor serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding region. Day trips to nearby Perast, known for its charming islets, and the Our Lady of the Rocks church, are highly recommended. Boat tours around the bay provide a different perspective of the stunning landscapes.

Kotor is an awesome place. 3 days is just enough to see everything. Staying at Kotor Old Town is best especially if you are visiting in off season. You can take Budva & St Stevenson Island tour one day and even Bar which is in same direction. Second day stay in Kotor and walk around the old town. Third day visit Perast, take the ferry to Tivat from Kamenari explore the Port of Montenegro and Tivat old town. This is the complete 3 days in Montenegro you can enjoy easily. If you are muslim then dont worry Kotor has a great Halal restaurant just in the center near the old town called BUCKO be sure to visit them otherwise you can enjoy lots of seafood options inside the old town restaurants.

Perast was amazing place to visit. It is small area but the view and vibe was so good. Kotor was overrated. We did not like it so much. We did not find good restaurant too, we have tried so many places but we like mostly Bucko restaurant. It was good enough. We like a lot to gelato from CATTISIMO, it was in the old town Kotor. Budva also nice place. Herceg Novi and Tivat also okay.

Definitely worth seeing.
Definitely worth seeing. Go up the hill to see the whole city from above. You can either do the touristic path (8 EUR) or the free one that starts at the Old Hydroelectric Plant (I did not check this one, so it be hard to hike).

Kotor is a beautiful walled city.
Kotor is a beautiful walled city. A myriad of winding streets with plenty of bars and restaurants - very much our thing. Not sure about the retail experience - not our thing! A lot of shops selling tourist tat. Ice cream parlours at every corner too. The 1350 steps up to St. John's Fortress, also known as San Giovanni by locals, whilst physically challenging, made for a fabulous view at the top where you can soak in one of the best views of Old Town Kotor and the Bay of Boka. I was soaked on arrival at the top!! We flew into Dubrovnik and hired a car to drive down through Croatia into Montenegro. A word of warning - hire the car direct and not through Booking.com or your airline. We got caught out with unexpected cross border charges and extra insurances. Make sure you inform the car hire company that you plan to cross the border at the time of booking.

Wandering in the Old Town itself is so much fun if you are into culture, Cafes and local restaurants.
The one day (4 Hours approx.) tour to Lady of the rocks, Blue Cave & Perast was wonderful and its a must in your visit to Kotor.
Also if you like hiking and a little more activity, I will suggest you to climb the Kotor Castle Trail and enjoy the view during sunset.
Totally 2 days was enough to enjoy and experience Kotor.
I felt truly privileged and lucky with the choice to stay at Apartments Doncic. Brilliant location, in the area of Muo, at the same time short walking distance to the Old Town Kotor. Apartment fully equipped, clean and fresh, the owner very helpful and responsive. Mini beach in 2-3 min walk. Felt like living a local life in a village, away from hustle and bustle, and groups of tourists. The most amazing was the view to the Bay Kotor, could admire it every single time. Highly recommend place to stay while in Kotor and Montenegro! 🇲🇪😎
In the walls of the old town, attic apartment with I called the penthouse.
Great facilities and great balcony to sit out on.
At night the saxaphone player in the restrunt t below entertained us having a glass of wonderful montenegro wine.
Host was fantastic helped with anything we needed and booked us on his dad's speed boat for a tour , which was fantastic.
If you want a great location , great room , great host in the most beautiful place . Book this room .
Hotel is clean, modern and comfortable with great facilities (spa, rooftop terrace with swimming pool) The apartment is beautiful, with great view, has everything you need. The location is perfect, lots of restaurants nearby. 20 minute walk along the promenade to the old town. You receive an hour in the private spa room with your stay.
The staff were very nice and helpful with everything you need. Breakfast was ok. I definitely recommend this place.
Perfect location, just a few steps from the old town. The apartment is very cozy with everything you might need. When I was there they had a parking spot just for us and well, if you know anything about Montenegro if you are in a car you will ABSOLUTELY need it as parking is impossible. The road is super busy, but actually its more convenient than some other roads which might be tricky. I would stay there again for sure.
Very clean and reasonably well equipped.
Nice balcony with good views of the river.
A 10 to 15 minute pleasant walk along the waterfront to the entrance to the old town
The hosts were pleasant enough - though they seemed strangely nervous of us - not really sure why …..
We travelled for a month in Montenegro and this was our most expensive apartment - but then I guess it’s a very touristy town….
Host was super friendly and kind! Apartment was clean and comfy. Nice apartment where we found everything we needed. Very good location. 10 minutes walk to Kotor old town and 7 minutes to the beach.
There are a lot of stairs like in every city in Montenegro, which didn't bother us.
Quiet and calm area. Price/ quality ratio was really good😊
Thanks for the accommodation!
Beatiful place and well designed apartment. The best pillows and cover we had ever had! Very close to the sea side path with the restaurants, which turns you into old town- 10 minutes walk only. Fantastic and extremely friendly owner Slobodan. I will really recommend this place 👌!!! Thank you for very nice experience at Kotor and Montenegro 🇲🇪!!!
The hotel is incredibly central, right in the middle of Kotor Old Town. It's a nostalgic hotel with very beautiful decoration. The balconies with mountain views are extremely good. The staff are very helpful and accommodating.
We were really satisfied with our stay and would definitely choose to stay here again if we return.
Host was very responsive, friendly and accommodating. She met us for both check-in and check-out. The apartment felt very homely. Kitchen was very well equipped. Balcony/terrace was quite big. We found the location to be good, because it is about 10 min walk along the promenade to the old town and Kotor beach is on the way.
THE BEST AMAZING PLACE YOU CAN STAY!
I have never seen a place like this
1. HOST IS SO SO GOOD! she is like your mom,
2. she even waved the booking fees that is AMAZING
3. the rooms are very big and clean UKTRA CLEAN , 4. 3 min walk to the center of KOTOR OLD TOWN
5. NICE AIR CON and WIFI!
the best place ever!
The room was spacious, light and clean. It felt like a little piece of luxury after a few days of exploring the national parks. We particularly liked the sunny terrace where they served breakfast. The location of the hotel is also perfect for exploring Kotor old town as you're right in the middle of things.
Our stay at the Art Hotel Galathea was incredible! The staff was amazing and always available for everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious and the rooms were extremely cozy. I would stay here again the next time I am at the Bay of Kotor and would recommend to all family and friends.
The hotel was really nice and clean. The room was a bit small but was very good and clean. The view from the room’s balcony was breathtaking though. The hotel is located around 10 mins away from Kotor’s old town by car. Breakfast was good and staff were very nice.
The owner welcomed us with some drinks and fresh fruit. He arranged a parking spot just outside the old town, very close to the apartment which is located in Kotor's Old Town. The owner gave us some nice recommendations for Kotor and other places in Montenegro!
Location was in Old Town.Owner helped us for early check-in due rainy days in Montenegro.Nice mountain view with balcony which they offered.(Not for this apartment on the picture).Very fast wifi connection.Thank you for all.
We absolutely loved the location! The hotel is right on the Bay of Kotor and the hotel restaurant has seating right on the water. The food was excellent and view was gorgeous. Our room was a bit outdated, but comfortable.
Very charming hotel in old town Kotor. A very old building with history but renovated with the most modern amenities. Close to everything. Value for money.
Location is amazing, right in the heart of the Old Town. Hotel let us leave luggage with them. Special shout out to Nick who was great from start to finish
