FAQs about hotels in Siena

Romantic Renaissance

Surrounded by rolling hills and Chianti vineyards, Siena shines as a jewel of the Tuscan Renaissance, and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Experience the famous Palio di Siena horse race, catch the pulse of the city at Piazza del Campo, visit the beautiful Duomo cathedral…and fall in love with this charming city!

Founded by Etruscans around 900 BC, the city was first conquered by Romans and later by Lombards. The Middle Ages saw it becoming the independent and flourishing Republic of Siena, until its annexation to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.

The economic difficulties that followed turned out to be a blessing for the preservation of its historic center. Adorned with frescoes by Ghirlandaio and bass-reliefs by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia, the Duomo represents the highest expression of this well-kept legacy. The shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, with the Palazzo Pubblico and the Gaia Fountain, is still the heart and soul of the city. Follow the labyrinth of narrow streets and passages that irradiate from there and you will be enchanted by its romantic atmosphere from ancient times.

The closest airports are Peretola Airport in Florence and Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa, though Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna is also well connected. While planning your trip, don’t forget to check out the Siena accommodations deals on Booking.com!

This was a MARVELOUS place! Great location! DO make sure, if arriving by car, that you read their instructions! We loved the place. Reception friendly, courteous and welcoming. Very helpful, excellent english since our Italian is still 'wobbly'. Lovely room, very clean, great bed and a marvelous look at the Duomo and tower. We have a cat and she was received like the queen she thinks she is. GREAT bfst that was not all sweets!

Siena old city centre is great.

Siena old city centre is great. Piazza del campo is beautiful and lovely. We were also here for Strade bianche cycling race and it was magnificent to experience it. For parking, i reccomend parking house at the train station. On Saturday the whole day parking cost us 2€. We parked there and then walked to center from there, around 25 minutes of walk. For dinner, we went to Ristorante Pizzeria La Capannina by car. If you want to experience real Italian food, i would higly reccomend this restaurant. The food was great and the prices affordable. Overall, i couldn't reccomend it more.

Honestly, the place we stayed really made our stay in Siena!

Honestly, the place we stayed really made our stay in Siena! Yes, the city was great, too! We loved visiting the Duomo, and we loved just walking through the streets within the city walls. From the two nights we were there (which wasn't nearly enough), we ate at the Fonte Giusta three times! It was always so delicious! Incredible pasta, and a wonderfully friendly staff! But our place, located just a ten minute walk from the city walls, had the most incredible views of the Tuscan hills! Each morning we woke up, we were just so grateful to be visiting such a beautiful part of the world!

    Siena is a beautiful city.

Siena is a beautiful city. Small so everything is within walking distance. An ideal stay would be 3 days. Restaurants are excellent and not over priced. Avoid eating in the central Campo (square) where prices are inflated and staff very keen to get your cash and move you on! People are generally pleasant. Climate very good. However, Siena is hilly and there are many steps to navigate. It's not suitable for people with ambulatory disabilities.

Siena Duomo, Piazza del Campo, Mangia, main attractions are a must see in a lifetime especially off season when it is not too hot. Food and wine in Siena ar very good. A lot meat though. A drink at a table in Piazza del Campo is a must to take in the beauty and the details of such a unique place. Siena should invest on training given to employees working at information desks or tickets offices. Siena should have more public toilets and people that keeps them clean!!! At the museum opposite the duomo, in the bookshop/info there were two tiny toilets. I can’t imagine how disable people can manage .

Roberto is a very, friendly, attentive and helpful host. The location is in the heart of old Siena, one of the most stunning towns in Italy. The accommodation itself looks to be all newly and very tastefully constructed in within an old historical building. Everything was extremely clean and well appointed. The breakfast was superb and served with real cappuccino, made by Roberto himself. The view from my room was brilliant. Great value for money and I would not estate to recommend to other travellers.

The location was amazing, just 5 min away from piazza del Campo and Duomo. You can reach the hotel by your car and take out your luggage. The staff were amazing, accommodating, and friendly. The room view was amazing and the hotel itself brings you to the medieval vibe of Siena. The breakfast was very good and the waiter was very fast. The hotel is right in the center where all the shops and restaurants are. If I come back to Siena I will book this hotel again.

This was a larger room than expected, very clean. Filtered cold water available. Perfect location- away from revelry but less than 5 minutes to the middle of everything. Breakfast was simple but made fresh and delicious. After 4 weeks of Cappuccinos everywhere across Italy, the Cappuccino from this breakfast was the best. Can’t even explain why - it was that kind of an experience. We had a car and we were able to get a spot on hotel property.

You could not pick a better location to stay in Siena. Within an easy walk (relatively flat) to the major attractions plus handy to the bus station and supermarket. Spacious and well appointed apartment and staying for a week the washing and cooking facilities were a real bonus. Nicolo gave us some great restaurant recommendations, make sure you try out Taverna De Cecco so far the best we have experienced in Italy (make sure you book).
