I went to see a show at the theatre and turned it into a long weekend. There are a number of extremely good museums and places to visit, I've been to Shakespeare's birthplace before and it was great, this time I visited Tudor World and the Guild Hall/ Schoolroom, both of which I spent over an hour in and were fascinating.
The schoolroom in particular I highly recommend, brilliant volunteers and very interesting. Love the bookshops and cafes around town, and of course the world class theatres.

At this time of year (March) it's very pleasant - not too overrun with visitors. But cold! Stay centrally is a good idea as parking and driving in the centre generally is tricky. The waterfront, parks and area around the theatres and the church are beautiful. Lots of places to eat, although be warned - it's hard to find restaurants still serving after 9pm. People eat very early here, even if they're not going to the theatre. If you're visiting any of the Shakespeare sites get there early. We had a wonderfully peaceful visit to the church when it was opening, but as we left the groups were already streaming in. (NB you have to pay to see the Shakespeare memorial.)

The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is excellent with high production values. The Main theatre also has a small studio theatre the Swan which is beautiful and the Other Place is just down the road so lots to experience. The theatre also has a tower which is worth a visit to look at the coutryside around and down the river to Trinity church. Trinity church is well worth a visit if only to see Shakespeare's grave. The boats on the river Avon are called after Shakespeare's plays. Some interesting buildings around which are half timbered.

A town steeped in Shakespearean history and a number of very old buildings of character. Beautiful riverside walk from Clopton Bridge to Trinity Church passing the famous RSC theatre where outstanding performances of Shakespeare's works and other playwrights can be seen.
Many excellent restaurants and coffee bars, too many to mention but favourites include The Woodsman at Hotel Indigo on Chapel Street and Vintners on Sheep Street.
Tourist attractions include town and ghost walks, boating on the river, Shakespeare's birthplace on Wood Street, his last property at New Place, his daughter's home at Halls Croft, his resting place within Trinity Church, all within walking distance of each other. Around April 23rd sees the town celebrate Shakespeare's birthday with processions and special events.

The hospitality of the hosts was second to none. They bent over backwards to be of assistance to us. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and I would definately stay here again if in the area.

All local attractions are quite close, within walking distance of each other. Sign posts and maps are informative and plentiful.
Had a fantastic evening at the RSC Theatre, along with a meal in the Rooftop Restaurant.
The Butterfly Farm is a must visit, and the town itself has all the shops, cafes and pubs you would need interspersed with the History of Shakespeare, and associated attractions .

Baraset Barn is nothing short of spectacular! The property is very clean and presentable and the rooms are very big and spacious.
The restaurant is amazing with the food exceeding all expectations.
The location is fabulous being only around 5 miles from Stratford upon Avon town centre.
One of the best things about Baraset Barn are the staff. They are the friendliest and most welcoming. There was nothing they wouldn’t do for you.
We absolutely loved our second trip back to Baraset Barn and will continue to visit.
It was an easy walk into Stratford-on-Avon and there was parking available, which were the two things I was looking for when we looked for somewhere to stay.
The cleanliness of our room and its ensuite, the dining room, and the entrance hall was exceptional.
The cooked breakfast was one of the best I have had in any hotel, guest house, or B&B. The ingredients used were clearly high quality and there was not a trace of oil or grease. Our host was friendly, cheerful and helpful.
B&B hosts Emma and Craig were wonderful. Extremely welcoming and helpful. The morning breakfasts were generous and well prepared. The extra kitchen on the upper floor right outside the room where early risers could prepare coffee or tea is a particularly nice touch. The entire house was very clean and well maintained and the location was perfect, especially for guests arriving on foot. We highly recommend The Hathaways BnB for your stay in Stratford upon Avon.
Our whole stay was flawless. The B&B is run by a family, both mum Philippa and son Philip were amazing from the beginning. They catered to our requests without any hesitation and made our two days stay a very pleasant one. A quiet countryside which is less than 10 minutes from the centre of Stratford upon Avon, is a perfect place to stay while visiting the town. There are also beautiful pathways and river walk just at the doorstep. Highly recommended!
We booked a super deluxe room in the coach house and it was amaizing. The bed was king size and so comfortable and the character of the room was lovely. The staff were exeptional especially Natalie on bookings, reception and restaurant staff. The hotel was clean and nicely presented and is ideal for walking into Stratford upon Avon Town. We also used the spa facilities which were lovely.
This lovely apartment is in the perfect location for a visit to Stratford Upon Avon. It is literally on the door step with parking right next to it. It is spacious for two people and much nicer than a hotel. The bed is comfortable and the shower is excellent.
There was great communication from the host and nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment. It was clean but the paint on my bedroom ceiling was peeling and the whole place needs a renovation. It is a sham as this is the best location in Stratford upon Avon and the building is historic. This hotel used to be the place to stay in Stratford upon Avon but unfortunately not anymore.
It was an amazing experience being in the centre of Stratford upon Avon, living in the hotel with the 16th century mural and we even got a Birthday present in our room, unexpected!
I would highly recommend staying in the White Swan for everyone looking for a special time in their lives.
Breakfast was excellent and all the staff were lovely. The hotel reception and breakfast dining areas are spacious.
The pool and fitness suite was open nice and early. The hotel is situated in easy walking (and wheelchair pushing) distance from the theatre, restaurants and shops.
The hotel and the room we stayed were lovely. There was no restaurant available for an evening meal, but with all the other restaurants and cafes about in Stratford, this wasn't a problem for us!!The breakfast though was incredible, with plenty of choice and excellent service!!
Excellent location with or without own transport. You don't need a car in Stratford upon Avon as all the sights are within easy walking distance from the hotel. Due to the rail strike we had to take the car and the hotel provided us with car parking at short notice.
Easy to find. Lovely and quiet. Sue and John lovely hosts and very helpful. Wonderful cooked breakfast. Only 2 miles from Stratford Upon Avon town centre; an amazing interesting place to visit. Museum, River cruise, good choice of shops, plenty of parking.
This flat is in the best location. It’s super clean and well cared for. Everything we needed was provided for and it’s evident that a lot of thought has been put into by the owner. It’s one of the best we’ve stayed at that isn’t a hotel. Loved it!
Very friendly, and efficient staff, everywhere in the Hotel, but worthy of special mention was "Krasi" [Waitress from Bulgaria, servicing the breakfasts]. The food was good, and (importantly) served hot. The location of the Hotel was perfect.
The hotel in general is excellent and I/ we have stayed many times this year, and use it as a go to, and base when we visit Stratford upon Avon... usually faultless, but this time a minor but uncomfortable issue... see below
The hotel has been wonderfully refurbished to a high standard both in the rooms and the gardens. The location near Stratford upon Avon was very convenient to visit all of the Shakespeare sights.
The staff were lovely. The hotel ambiance was wonderful. The restaurant was in a beautiful room and the food was delicious.
Our room was lovely. The location of hotel was perfect!
