Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and cable cars. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.
At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.
While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of tunnels you can visit and even a Graeco-Roman theater which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!
Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artifacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.
As for accommodations, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city center apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Unfortunately it pored of rain all day so we’re were h able to walk around and explore too much. Definitely do the hop on hop off bus - 2 routes included in ticket. It’s worth staying in the bus the whole way round and then going back to where you want to see.
Usual rules apply in a city - keep your bags in front of you, no valuables in back pockets etc. I didn’t feel unsafe at all.
Very narrow side streets, filled with cars (I couldn’t drive there). Very old rustic buildings, gives it a real authentic feeling. Great place, worth a visit
So many places to eat, definitely try Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba, the oldest pizza place in Naples.

Naples is a really nice Italian city.
Naples is a really nice Italian city. Previously I thought it is not so safe, but during my stay I never really had that feeling. People were friendly and helpful. Sometimes we had language problems, but we could always get what we wanted.
Vesuv, Pompei, Capri and Herculaneum was close by. I think even if we visited during early spring, we collected a lot of great memories & experiences.

Go to St Elmo's Castle in the first half of the day - the light is better for photos.
Gesù Nuovo is impressive inside.
Everything is very close and within walking distance.

Location near Via Toledo!!!
Location near Via Toledo!!! Better to stay in Spanish Quarter (Quartieri Spagnoli). Few steps to everything - port, castles, funicular, bus stop to the airport, ferry trips, sites of interest! 5min to supermarket Sole365-recommend (opened until 22:00), via Speranzella is full of trattorias. Recommend to visit Lombardi a Santa Chiara-very tasty and worth moneywise. Ferry to Capri-eazy to buy tickets and reserve the sit on the way back, so-better to plan
day visit and buy return ticket at Molo Beverello.

1st time in Naples and I'm surprised: there is everything:...
1st time in Naples and I'm surprised: there is everything: city walks with sunset by the sea, good food & pizza fritta, small chic restaurants for breaks, easy to reach Pompeii, Vesuvius or the islands - an exciting city!
My room, in the middle of Centro Storico, was great - it was centrally located, I could reach a lot of things on foot and had a great selection of cafés and restaurants
The place was really new, clean, and comfortable with AC. Even had a mini fridge to keep beverages cold which is the first mini fridge we’ve seen in Italy!
We had previously stayed in this neighborhood of Naples and loved the area we wanted to find a place in the same location. Very walkable to everything but the neighborhood itself is quiet.
Free breakfast was offered at a cafe two blocks away. One of the staff also was able to give us a ride to the airport after breakfast for a good price.
Boutique and beautifully appointed hotel. A real
treasure in the heart of Napoli. Walking distance to most sights and with easy access to the metro. Marco and his team are very friendly and helpful. Marco tried to find us a driver on a day when there was a Taxi strike in Italy. The room service breakfast is also really nice and the air conditioning works really well. Don’t forget to eat at pizza at Port’Alba pizzeria & have a coffee at Mexico and Posia. You won’t regret booking here.
We spent 2 nights in Il Tesoro and we have to admit that it was the best hotel we stayed at in Italy. It was clean, well-equipped, very beautiful and stylish! We could choose what to eat for breakfast and it was served in the room in the morning. The hotel is absolutely well located, close to the city center. The stuff is amazing, Lorenzo and Massimo was very helpful and nice. If you are looking for the best place to stay in Naples, do not hesitate, just book a room here!
EVERYTHING It was new, clean but the absolute shining star was the staff hospitality! The room was very spacious, as well as the bathroom and the sitting area outside was lovely. The rooms are exactly like I would design. The community kitchenette is well stocked for breakfast, fresh fruit and snacks. I travel for a living and have never been treated better. Daniella is now my favorite person in all of Italy! We extended our stay in Napoli because of this hotel *****
Great location, fantastic 5-star breakfast with amazing views (including Vesuvius) and real good cappuccino! Some of the friendliest staff I’ve dealt with in Italy. Extra services offered (luggage storage) was exceptional and greatly appreciated for our early arrival and late departure. We’ve been to Naples 5 times in the past 8 years and have finally found a place we know we will be calling home for all future visits.
Very clean room and spacious... and very modern as well. The bathroom is spacious and has jet pump!! First one we encountered from all the hotels we've been around Italy. Location is very nice, close to the Napoli Port which was convenient because we came by boat. The staff, Giuseppe was very helpful as well. Gave us very clear instructions on how to get into the property and even let us checkin early.
The customer service was exceptional, everyone was so helpful and so lovely. The location was perfect and the rooms were immaculate.
I highly recommend anyone to book this place.
The location was central to everything and looking up the side streets beside the hotel is everything you imagined Italy to look like.
Also, great in-house tours offered here.
I HIGHLY recommend this place 👌
The biggest thing for me is safety traveling to another country especially to Naples or Italy, as a single female. Andrea made me feel very safe and is the best host anyone can ask for from the moment of arrival. The place is at the best location, about 5 minutes walk from the train station. For the price, I would pay double or more. Oh and the house is nice and clean daily.
The place is really cool! The location is close to the port, what was super convenient for me. That was quiet enough in the evening, without noise/music from the street or neighbours. The staff is polite, friendly, unobtrusive, careful. Despite the fact that the trip was working, I fell in love with Italy and the hotel and its staff clearly contributed to my impression.
The apartment is in a prime location in Naples. The area is the best part of Naples. The neighborhood is full of restaurants, bars and shops. The best supermarket in Italy is just a step away. The apartment is equipped with everything you need. There are two single pull-out beds in the living room, a sofa bed and a separate bedroom.
Been travelling in Italy and this was the best hotel we stayed at. I booked the hotel part as I was with my daughter and didn't want her in a hostel. However on floor 3 theres a communal bar with pool table etc where we spent our time. Was so friendly, very safe. Highly recommended, especially for solo travelling.
They are so kind and helpful.
I can say that it's the best hostel I stay in Italy. Beds are so good, rooms are very large and you feel like a hotel, not a hostel. Everything was amazing.
Highly recommended to stay. If I visit Italy again, I will stay here again.
Thank you so much for everything!
The room was very comfortable. The property is centrally located in the nicest area of Naples. There are many restaurants, shops and cafes nearby. The host was very accommodating and provided us with fantastic recommendations. The breakfast was the best I’ve had anywhere in Italy. Thank you!
We spent our first night in Italy at Toledo 16. They were so helpful getting us from the airport and into the hotel with self check in since we arrived early. A perfect spot to relax and reset after a long day of travel. Great central location to sights, airport, and train station.
Most of all the hostess that gave us such a warm welcome to a tasteful room in a great location in Naples. Delicious breakfast provided which is not always the case in Italy. Walking distance to the sights within Naples and close to stations for the train to Pompeii.
Maison Arena is a great introduction to Naples, Italy 🇮🇹 I felt as if the hotel was in the heart of the city. Incredibly caring staff and incredible service. Breakfast was a great bonus. Will definitely recommend to all my friends and family.
One of the best hotels in southern Italy! Very elegant, professional and clean. Great location and close to the train station! The breakfast on the roof was very nice and the service was exceptional
