Béziers is a nice middle-sized town with a long historic past which has left some very interesting monuments.
There are a number of excellent restaurants which offer a large choice of food.
I recommend visiting the place in spring or in summer .

Enjoyed visiting the Cathedral and the old town.
Enjoyed visiting the Cathedral and the old town. Also visited Les 9 Ecluses de Fonseranes and Tunnel du Malpas (Canal du Midi), and Oppidum d'Enserune (a 2,500 year old celtic settlement). Also drove to the nearby coastal towns but were disappointed that there was not more activity for the time of year (early/mid September).

I ended up staying in Beziers spontaneously without doing any research, and that's also how I ended up at Hotel la Prison. It was a great surprise all around. There are loads of things to see around Beziers, and a lot of history I had no idea about. A good cultural getaway and escape.

Quaint little city.
Quaint little city. The cathedral is beautiful and the locks are a must to visit. The town is currently redeveloping so there are works taking place but it is still lovely to walk by the orb and in the old town. There are lovely restaurants and bars. People are lovely ne welcoming.

Beziers completely surprised me as a city break , there was so much on offer here
1) City was walkable and I found it very safe
2) The sites are amazing, Cathédrale Saint-Nazaire was stunning and at night (until the end of August) there was an amazing free light show inside the Cathedral (Until 31st August 2023).
3) There was also a fountain show in Place Jean Jaurès with a light garden (until 31st Aug 2023)
4) Large variety of places to eat and drink throughout the city
5) Great walks in the city long the river, over Pont Vieux bridge and up the canal di midi and the The nine Locks of Fonseranes.
6) Good bus public transit system
7) Train connections to Adge and then bus to Cap D'Adge for a stunning seaside town and beach

This was a great surprise, a very pretty town with a great range of shops and restaurants. It is small and very easy to walk around if you use the main pedestrian route which leads from the train station up through a charming park. The towns of Sete, Agde. Narbonne and Perpignan are all only a short train ride away.
Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Nathalie speaks very good English and was always available. She allowed us a late checkout which was very convenient for us.
The studio is spotlessly clean and it served as a great base to return to every evening. The garden is a delight and we loved eating out there.
This part of France is great to explore and we had a brilliant holiday.
Such a lovely boutique hotel. Everything was so well thought out, from the room layout to the blackout blinds to the art work. The bed was so comfortable that I am still thinking about it! I'd love to stay in the summer and use the pool and gym. It is very well-located and we walked from the hotel into and around the city all weekend. We would definitely come back next time we are in Beziers.
All was clean, fresh, and new, modern and comfortable, and in a great central location, but the best thing about this property: the reception staff, evening and morning, who are super friendly, efficient, and helpful. For example, pressed for time, I asked for cycling directions to the Gare and they were clear and pitch perfect. Your wonderful staff set the tone for a great stay. Thank you.
Great breakfast, basket placed at bedroom door each morning, including bread, croissants, cheese, ham, jams, fresh fruit, muesli, yogurt, coffee. Villa Kumquats located 10 to 15 minute walk from centre of Beziers, check out La Maison Blanche, restaurant 5 minutes from Villa Kumquats, really great food.
Best 4 things about this hotel , in order, were 1. Excellent location close to main sights and restaurants. 2 Friendly and helpful hotel staff 3. Clean modern room with excellent showers and very comfortable beds 4. Good value for money breakfast, served from 7am
Why stay in soulless chain hotel box when for a better price you can stay in this converted Nunnery with charm by the bucket! If those stairs could tell a tale? I will now be using this for my regular trips to Beziers.
The owners of the hotel couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly.
The position of the hotel was perfect for exploring Beziers and right next to the Jardins des Poetes which is a delightful park.
The idea of transforming this prison into an hotel is a real good one, however they should have invested more for the guest comfort.
Staff is young and undertrained, but at least they are trying.
Fabulous apartment full of character and history, quintessential south of France. Wonderful balconies opening onto quiet squares. Enormous rooms with high ceilings, light and airy.
A hôtel with much character which we enjoyed enormously. The landlady was helpful, attentive and good-humoured. When we go back to Béziers, this will be our hotel of choice!
Ben is a formidable guy. Very charming. The hotel is cozy and nice. The location in front of the river is the best. Room with balcony with view to the river.
