Loved the area with friendly people everywhere. Went to the Museum which my Great nephew really loved. All hands on. Went to Kirwan Bowling and had a great time with all our extended family.
Also went to the Tavern and had a wonderful meal which didn't cost too much.
Spent time on The Strand at the Waterpark and all the kids had a ball splashing around.

It is a nice city surrounded by some rainforest, farmland and bush. Lots to see and do. I loved the museums. I loved the botanical gardens; the hill overlooking Townsville is five minutes drive away from the hotel and you can drive or walk up it. The esplanade is worth the walk. Lots of places eat and drink along it.

Townsville is a relaxed, growing city with good restaurants in Palmer Street and along the Strand. Easy to get around and always peaceful on the water front. Magnetic Island is a quick ferry ride away.

A good tip for a stay in Townsville is to try and stay...
A good tip for a stay in Townsville is to try and stay around The Strand, even if a business traveller, if you have a car. If you're a tourist wanting to chill out you don't really need a car. It's a couple of klms out of the City but it has everything you need and is pleasant with the sea close by and a walkway for walking, runners and even dogs are very well catered for! (Drinking bowls, walkies and cafes accept them). Lots of restaurants and cafes. However, try to stay at the City end of the Strand if you aren't a great walker or if you have difficulty with mobility. Having said that, the walkway along the sea (from one end of The Strand to the other) is flat and OK for wheelchairs I would think.
The Strand Motel is the perfect location, right on the Strand and walking distance into town, with Coles right around the corner for any groceries you might need.
The staff were friendly, and while it was a little outdated, it was clean with a comfortable bed and cold air con - just what you need in Townsville!
The kitchette was small, but functional with a fridge/freezer of decent size.
The Cafe offered large servings and wasn't too overpriced for breakfast.
Hotel was in good location for the activities we came to Townsville to do. Handy havig a good food/beverage area close by in City Lane and very handy to a good chemist and Woolworths. Bus and taxi services were nearby and not too expensive to get a taxi to and from the airport. Easy walk to The Strand precinct and easy to spend a day wandering and reading the history as well as enjoying the views and great eateries along the way.
Everything! Couldn't fault it. After a long and tiring day on the road, the wonderful lady at reception was not only very welcoming and friendly, she gave us a free upgrade to a larger room. The room was newly renovated, clean and perfect for our needs. With continental breakfast included also, it was incredible value for money. We will most definitely stay here again when we are back in Townsville.
The location was excellent. It was right on The Strand, close enough to the cafes yet peaceful at night.
Our host was excellent. He made us feel welcome and provided helpful information about the property as well as local knowledge about Townsville.
Lovely little hotel with clean and spacious rooms and on site parking. Perfect location just near the waterpark on the Strand and walking distance to Gregory St eateries.
Well priced considering location
One of the best hotels I've stayed at in Townsville yet - I am a frequent work traveller and it's always a bonus when I find somewhere new that is worth the change to my usual acccommodation.
Great location! Easy walk from the hotel to The Strand. There is undercover parking (for cars under 2m). The room itself was really nice, super spacious with a comfortable bed and smart TV.
Beautiful boutique hotel located in the city centre, rooms very clean and modern, great restaurant and bars, staff very attentive and friendly, pool and facilities exceptional.
Being located on The Strand was great as it was close to the beach; hotels and many restaurants. Secure parking was a bonus. Walkways along the waterfront were very good.
Self contained spacious apartment. Comfy large lounge. Great size outside area with fantastic views. Good walking distance to The Strand and Flinders Street.
