I travelled into Kanazawa on the Thunderbird Express train.
I travelled into Kanazawa on the Thunderbird Express train. The station is modern and attractive and a short walk from all the main attractions. There is the Omicho market, geisha and samurai districts, a 400 year old castle and a modern art museum. Places to eat were plentiful and catered for all tastes. The two main attractions for me were walks along the river which flows through the town and the stunning Kenrokuen gardens.
Everywhere was within easy walking distance and the people were so friendly and welcoming. My lack of Japanese was never a problem.

The Samurai houses, Kenroku-en and the historical center are the best part of the city. Book a couple of days in advance the bus if you plan to visit Shirakawago because they might be fully booked. The inside of the castle is not as nice as I thought.

Kanazawa is a lovely town with one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens in Japan. We came here many times before, love some local cafés like Kakurezato coffee or some nice izakaya like Fuwari. We always stop by the 21st Century Art Museum who curates great contemporary art exhibitions.
We will avoid for sure the Soki hotel on our next visit but can only recommend the Share Hotels Kumu, OMO5 or Hotel Amanek.

Very beautiful old city that reminds of Kyoto but it has it's own charm. The whole city feels like Tokyo from before, maybe 10 - 15 years ago and that is amazing. One of the best city garden's in Japan. The local fish market is probably the best in the country.

I love this hotel, very efficient check in and out with the machine. The staffs are very helpful and friendly (5 stars hospitality). We took the triple bed room, and enjoy our stay there. The location is very close to the market and Higashi Chaya… very recommended !
Sadly we didn’t get a chance to visit the garden/castle because of a rainy day , but other than that we really enjoy Kanazawa.
There’s a shopping mall about 5 minutes walk from the hotel with a great food/supermarket area. It is accessible from an underground crossing at the cross road.

Great location, nearby the station.
Great location, nearby the station. Hotel staff was extremely helpful prior to my stay, giving me direction on how to get to Shirakawago, Iwate. Hotel has a beautiful large lobby by Japan's standards.
This place is new, built in 2020, so the facilities are great, clean and quite modern with a beautiful blend of traditional architecture. There is really no faulting this property. Check in was very smooth, at a seperate hotel next to Kanazawa station which I assume manages the facility.
By far the best accomodation we’ve stayed at on our holiday.
50 meters up the road from Neon is the most gorgeous little cafe with great coffee and a selection of delicious food, Cafe Angolo. By far the best cafe and best coffee we’ve had in Japan.
Perfectly located to enjoy the neighboring Ōmichō Food Market, Hotel Pacific is a good base to explore Kanazawa at a very affordable price.
My room was rather small, but I was out until late and only went back to sleep, so that wasn't an issue. It was perfectly clean, with a large window and every thing I needed.
The staff spoke English and was friendly and helpful.
I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone who is on a budget, as it offers excellent value for money.
Everything! Building was new. Rooms were beautifully appointed and spacious. The Japanese style room was serene and lovely with great facilities and lighting as well. The Hotel itself was quiet and calm. The common guest lounge was inviting and accessible. Minn Kanazawa staff were welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again one day hopefully. It was only a short walk to most of the local attractions. Oh… and great Wifi! :)
I really liked it, it was one of my favorites Hotels during our stay in Japan.
Spacious room, very clean. Very quiet.
Convenience stores close by. Coffee shops as well.
Bus from Kanazawa station stops really close.
We sent our luggage to the next hotel, and the staff was really nice and helpful with all the process.
For us, we thought it was a good location for what we wanted to see/visit, and we don't mind walking.
Beautiful hotel and amazing service. Natural stone and wood everywhere - every area was beautiful and relaxing, and smelled great. Room was beautiful and clean (again with natural stone and wood), they gave us pyjamas and free drinks, etc. Staff were all extremely polite and kind. The location was great, on a beautiful quiet street, and close to the train station. I highly recommend this hotel in Kanazawa.
We had a brilliant stay at Ryokan Yamamuro as a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids), the room was spacious and comfortable with lots of lovely touches like tea pot/cups and yukata for us all. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful with booking restaurants for us and giving tips on where the visit. If we're in Kanazawa again we'd definitely want to stay again!
Just lovely. Everything about UAN was perfect. Beautifully designed, modern hotel with with well equipped, simple rooms and welcoming and helpful staff. Western and Japanese breakfast options. We tried both and they were delicious. Location is excellent, with easy access to everywhere we wanted to go. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Kanazawa.
it’s new and clean, the room was stayed in was very big for Japan standards with seperate bathroom and toilet, with a shower and bath. The room even had massage back and foot equipment you could use. We really liked it, Kanazawa is good for a day or day and a half visit to see tourist attractions and this is a good hotel to do it from.
We like it very much. The other ryokan (typical Japanese style hotel) we have visited wasn’t this good. I definitely recommend it. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. The bikes are available for free. Super clean. Don’t forget to use Japanese facilities on site 👍😁
Walking distance from Kanazawa station. New modern hotel. Shower/bathtub room was large for Japanese hotel standards. Room was very comfortable. Breakfast was good downstairs in the Italian restaurant. Convenience store right next door.
Great location - we walked to and from Kanazawa station to the hotel and were easily able to walk around to see the sights directly from the hotel.
Clean room, reasonable size.
By far the best value hotel we stayed in whilst in Japan.
Exceptional, modern, new, and very zen-designed hotel in Kanazawa. Great location, wonderful Japanese design, and comfortable stay. Nice onsen too. Went in November and the price was an excellent value.
Really nice hotel, especially for the price. Everything feels new and clean, and though you're a bit far from JR Kanazawa station, you're in a central area near the main "attractions".
They had onsen inside the hotel, amazing experience. Price point is excellent, location is very close to Kanazawa Station. Room is clean. Staffs are friendly and welcoming
The location was good especially if you have to check in on a rainy day like us. We took bus from Kanazawa Station and walked through Omicho market to reach the hotel.
Since I had my friend lives in Kanazawa, I did not have much time staying at hotel but my room was excellent. I love a tiny garden in my room. Staffs were very kind.
Location is very close to Kanazawa station. Very clean. Bigger than most Japanese hotels. Have an onsen facility which is very good after the long walk.
