Nice city to visit and enjoy. Good city infrastructure, new, modern and functional. Good public transport (tram, metro, bus), nice pedestrian walkway and bikeway along both sides of the river. Outstanding museum Guggenheim, more for the building architecture itself than by the content. City cultural center underused demands a visit. Overall city architecture and urban planning are a must to whom appreciates such aspects, including nice parks spread around. Old city is also a must to visit. Not forget the local gastronomy, with the Pintxos bars and restaurants.

I was really impressed and surprised by Bilbao.
I was really impressed and surprised by Bilbao. It has history and ancient sites, with the old town particularly charming. Also many plazas, squares and park and lots of life happening throughout the city. Lots of hidden gems and tons of interesting buildings and architecture. The Metro is really efficient so it's easy to get a way out from the centre and explore the beaches or hills. Loads of local walking opportunities as well. As a football fan I really enjoyed the tour of San Mames stadium. A great city for just walking and wandering.

Bilbao is very easy to get around.
Bilbao is very easy to get around. Walking is easy, mostly flat and lots of pavements and car free promenades along the river. There is one bus from the airport which drops you at Moyua square in the commercial centre. There is a tram and regular bus service to other areas. A funicular railway takes you up to Artxandako, a high point overlooking the city and surrounds. There is a cafe (Txakoli) for afternoon tea in the park at the top. The open tour bus is 16 euros (Feb 2024). In the Casco Viejo (old town) there is a plaza with many choices of Pintxos bars. We found it cheap to eat pintxos and local wine was only just over 2 euros a glass!
La Ribera market is a good stop for pintxos and refreshments and has a very good atmosphere. We went on a Sunday so the market itself was closed.

Guggenheim Museum and the old city were wonderful.
Guggenheim Museum and the old city were wonderful. We ate at the very cheap Rocket tavern, in the neighbourhood of the accommodation - it was excellent value for money. Bilbao has very good public transport, though it took some getting to know the best ways into the centre of town. I would avoid the buses as the trains are faster and more direct.
What can I say, the moment we arrived Lydia took care of us, showing us a map of the city, where to park , how to travel in the city, what to go and see... you name it. The room was more like a small apartment with three separate room; Bedroom, Bathroom and sitting room. The hotel is slap bang in the middle of the old town (Casco Viejo), so the moment you walk out of the door, you have arrived! Tram, Bus and Metro are all in short walking distance from the hotel. Next time I visit Bilbao, and trust me I will! I know where I will be staying!
Bilder Boutique Hotel is a very nice small hotel with sleek modern design and furnishings including plumbing and AC and so on, retrofitted into an old building shell at the edge of Bilbao’s “Casco Viejo” (Old Quarter ). THE main plus about the hotel is it’s absolutely location right where the old quarter begins, but not on the noisy main access street just steps away , nor on one of the noisy bustling squares or intersections. So it is peaceful. Main landmarks and areas of interest are all within a 15 minute walk.
The arrival by car was smooth and there is a valet parking underneath the hotel, so very convenient. Location is excellent, right across the Bilbao Guggenheim. Excellent breakfast is on the top floor terrace overlooking the Museum. Only 15 min walk to the old town, and many nice restaurants on the way there. We also enjoyed the stroll along the river on the north bak towards the old town. Room was very nice, especially the bath room.
A very good option to stay in Bilbao. It has an excellent price/quality ratio. Of course it has its specificity as it’s a capsule hotel, but one of the best of its kind, I’d say. It has all the necessary facilities and the location is great. And another advantage of Optimi Rooms is a very nice and welcoming personnel. They do their best to explain everything to you and help you with inquiries you may have. Eskerrik asko😊
The service from the reception was beyond expectations. They messaged me in advance and accepted my small request with a smile. The service from the staff was excellent . The place is clean and taken care of very well. They explained very patiently even the smallest doubt i had being a first timer in Spain. They speak English well. The lobby was a nice place to sit with a lot of good vibes.
The hotel is part of a chain, and the front desk staff was efficient and spoke our language (English). The hotel is about a fifteen minute walk from the Guggenheim, which is the main reason to visit Bilbao. The hotel features a full breakfast (not included in the basic price) for those who wish it, and a good restaurant and bar. The rooms were clean and fairly large.
I liked the fact that this hotel was super clean. The rooms are simple but very well equipped, the size is good as well. It is very close to the Guggenheim and about 5 minutes from Gran Via de Bilbao. The historic part is about 15-20 minutes walking. It is really convenient for the airport since it's only a 20 minute bus ride away.
The Hotel Carlton is in the perfect location for exploring Bilbao, a short walk to the Guggenheim and within a stone’s throw of excellent Pintxos restaurants like Globo. The staff are efficient and my room was spacious and well-appointed, with a desk and a small sitting area, as well as large wardrobes
Staff is very helpful. Good location - just nearby old town. Tram and bus stops near by. Cafes and bars and grocery stores nearby - no point to take hotel's relatively expensive breakfast. Considering high price levels of Bilbao's hotels Sirimiri seems to have ok price/quality ratio.
Lovely boutique hotel in a great location in Bilbao, next to Guggenheim Museum and within walking distance of both the old town and the newer shopping district. Room was very spacious and bed was very comfortable. Good walk-in shower, with good bathroom amenities.
Very quirky small hotel. The staff were probably the nicest iv ever stayed at.....they couldnt do enough.....they even looked after a bag for one night while we went to our neices wedding until our return. Great position for the old town of Bilbao.
Staff were extra hospitable: helping with the car elevator to garage, with suggesting great tapas eatery for our last night in Spain, and we were only steps from the Guggenheim. Our room was riverside and it was lovely to see rowers, other boats.
The hotel is in the perfect location in the old town. Rooms were clean, modern and incredibly spacious - much bigger than I expected. The bed was also huge and very comfortable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Bilbao
Nice hotel greatly decorated. Just outside of Bilbao’s old town but easily walkable. Staff is nice and helpful. On-site restaurant with international choice. They have water fountain so you can refill your bottle anytime.
I have stayed here before it's near the old town, great staff if I get another great deal like this I would choose the plaza, I think this is the third time I have stayed at the plaza hotel as I often come to bilbao
Hotel is very central in the old town. Lots of bars and restaurants right beside it. Easy to reach by tram from Bilbao main station. Hotel is fairly basic but for location and price wad excellent.
Location is spot on for Bilbao visit. Hotel is near the main city center and near many bars and taverns. Neighborhood is OK - nothing fancy - but OK for a short stay
