All the shops, bars, restaurants are within walking distance...

All the shops, bars, restaurants are within walking distance of each other, the river and the inns. When I was there in July everything was open, but that may change during other months. There is NO GAS in Downievile. There is a "gas station", but there are no working gas pumps. There is one large convenience store, but no grocery store, so make sure to buy gas and groceries before you get there. A beautiful river runs through Downieville and it is a great location for hiking and mountain biking...maybe even road biking if you don't mind long twisty climbs on mountain roads. The town is charming and the people are friendly. The Boom Town Bar sold beer and wine and had live music on the weekends. LOVED IT! There is a cute little Mexican restaurant with outdoor seating by the river; a pizza/burger/beer restaurant (Two Rivers) that has great food and outdoor seating by the river and a breakfast/lunch place by the bike shop that has awesome breakfast burritos. If you are a mountain biker, take a shuttle to do the Downieville Downhill...make sure to rent a downhill bike if you don't have one. If you like to be outdoors and active, then Downieville is the place for you.
